BTW, I thought he was going to melt the scissors that his mother held. I don't know why he didn't. Or use his TK to toss them across the room. Do you think they were going for a "Carrie" reference?
He might have been too upset to focus to use his powers.
I would swear that towards the beginning of the series, it was mentioned that one of Sylar's victims was frozen to death.
Molly's dad was frozen.

Was the little girl who played Molly Walker the little girl from the Cranberry Juice ads?
What power did he use to create the physical structure of the snow globe? Is there a glass-walls-creating power that I don't know about?
Did he actually create a snow globe around mom? It looked to me like it was just artsy camera work, with the camera shooting through one of the actual snow globes while Sylar filled the room with snow.
Yes, that's why I was disappointed -- I was hoping that somehow he'd break the snowglobes and then use the glass to make a giant one that would encase his mother.
I'm not sure what Sylar was trying to do besides
creep me the fuck out.
Ah. I thought Molly was the little girl Mohinder saved in the current episdode. So there was a Molly in an early episode?
I think Sylar was trying to show off his powers to his mother in a gentle non-threatening way that made her happy. Only Sylar was out of practice on the "gentle, non-threatening" thing.
