I don't know that I want him to get all clever and capable, though. I like it that the mentalist is sort of a bumbling dimwit for a change. And since he's now the lovable moral center of the show, I worry what the evil=smarter equation would mean for his characterization.

Yes, Matt has dyslexia. It contributed to him not making detective in L.A., because he always had problems with the exam.
I do think Matt is a reasonably bright person, but I agree that I don't want him to suddenly be a genius. I like that he's just a guy, and sometimes he makes stupid decisions.
And next to Mohinder, he often looks like a freakin' savant.
I do think that Molly is the smartest, but I just love Matt & Mohinder anyway.
I'm trying to figure out where the creators think Mohinder is on the smartness scale. Is he supposed to be book smart AND hopelessly credulous? That wouldn't be so bad if he didn't pull out genuinely smart moments like his tuning fork torture of Sylar.

I think he's meant to be book smart, but really out of his element. Remember, he's lived his whole life inside academia and research. All this superpower stuff was only theory to him, let alone brain-eating psychopaths and espionage.
That being said, I think he's learning, and frankly, I'm not entirely sure he did make the wrong play by confessing to Bob. I think I need to see that storyline play out before I make judgements.
GG is so adorable, he makes me wish I was more into Heroes fandom, just so I could flail (more).

I think he's just overly idealistic. When that's shattered, as I think it was with Sylar, he snaps and gets practical.
OmG! Watch GG's interview - he calls the 3M situation, "My Indian Wife."
It won't open for me, dammit. But it makes me happy just to read it. GG is adorkable.
