the friend reminded me of Kimmy Gibler.
Heroes 1: We Could Be Heroes
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the show and ancillary materials such as web comics! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. Chuffa, Chuffa!
I missed Peter because of the pretty and the shirtless and I missed Hiro because he is fun (even though the story itself is kinda blah) and Kensei is snarky fun.
I do think this has been the best ep so far. But then again, I've liked the season so far. (I gather some folks have been disappointed, but not this girl. Nuh-uh)
I didn't miss Nikki. Still. Some more. I thought we were getting more of her tonight. Wasn't she in the last preview asking for the cure? Maybe Bob turned her into a statue like in Goldfinger.
I don't remember what Nikki's dad's name was, but it's not the same actor. The guy who played Nikki's dad is an actor I recognized from L.A. Confidential -- I don't know the guy in the picture.
Upon re-watch, I'm convinced I was mistaken. It was this diaoulge that threw me:
Matt: I know this man.
Nathan: How? (Not Hal))
Matt: He's my father.
Still, another direct familial connection to the OWI. Very weird.
On the other hand, I think my earlier Nightmare Man theory, which I'd intended as a devil's advocate, has some more credence now.
I really hadn't expected to get a face or an identifaction of the Nightmare Man so soon!
Also, when I saw Monica peel that tomato rose, and realized that Micah was setting up the WWE to play, I realized that Monica was about to learn some awesome moves, and when she was closing up for the night, I knew she was going to get attacked/robbed, and still it was AWESOME. I love that a show can forshadow something, possibly rather obviously, and the fact that I figured it out and then actually getting to see it are both very enjoyable and awesome things. As opposed to "oh, boo, I could see that a mile away, boooring". This show makes the forshadowing out so much fun!
Oh, man! Matt's dad was an elder hero and that's how Mama Petrelli knew about him and knew that she needed to lock him out of her mind. Fun. I didn't like the leap that she just would've found out from the Company somehow.
I wonder what Matt's dad did to make him go on the run? Steal all of Bob's gold? He can just make more. Maybe his leaving Matt had nothing to do with his crime.
I wanna learn more about the elders' powers. Aside from Simone's dad, Linderman, and Bob, do we know what any of the rest of them can actually do? Did we ever find out what Kaito could do? I know we don't know Mama Petrelli's power. Did we know Papa Petrelli's? Do we know Matt's dad's power (other than being the Nightmare Man)? What gives? Enquiring minds want to know.
So, the Latino characters' storyline revolves around making it to America to escape a bad situation they got into through no fault of their own. And the black characters' storyline revolves around trying to escape from poverty.
.......
You know, I can see what they're trying to do. It's kind of like Joss' trick of making a fantastical metaphor out of a mundane problem. But somehow, they seem to be mixing the wrong elements of the real-world situation, and it comes out(for me at least) as kind of cliched.
Oh, well. We're starting to get some interesting interactions going, so maybe things will pick up.
And Monica's boss was Big Mike from Chuck ! Hee.
Aside from Simone's dad, Linderman, and Bob, do we know what any of the rest of them can actually do?
What's Bob's power?
Bob can turn stuff into gold, and is apparently the Elder 12's walking, talking source of funding.
I think Mama Petrelli has the power of persuasion like what's her face who shot herself in the head rather than be killed by Sylar in Season 1.
