"We have trust issues." Mylar

So, let's see. The Original Flavor timeline is the one in which Sylar killed Claire and then blew up New York himself. When Future!Hiro meets Peter on the subway, that's the future he is trying to alter with his "Save the Cheerleader, save the world." In the 5 Years Later future, Peter managed to save Claire and pick up her healing powers. He was also the one who blew up New York, but Nathan lied and covered it up saying that Sylar had done it. Some time later, Sylar, after meeting and killing Candace, killed Nathan and began impersonating him. When Present!Hiro met Future!Hiro in the Five Years Later future, FH didn't know that Peter was the one who blew up New York. He thought he had been a total failure, but he hadn't. He did manage to save Claire, but he didn't stop the city from blowing up. So now Present!Hiro is back in the present trying to get everything right and stop New York from going boom. The problem I see with this is that Sylar isn't actually the one who blows up NYC in the Five Years Later Future. So, it seems like Hiro could kill Sylar and still have NYC blow up. New future because Sylar won't be around to kill Nathan and commit hero-cide, but sucks to be a New Yorker all the same.

So confusing. Time travel makes my head hurt-y.

I might need to finally commit to an HD-DVD player now. I really want these DVDs in HD.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Candice. We saw it on the screen.

Sorry, it's a thing. It's the new Wiedman!

Trust my rage

In the 5 Years Later future, Peter managed to save Claire and pick up her healing powers. He was also the one who blew up New York

So Peter survived his own explosion? I think I remember that now, although that's the part that was confusing me last night. It's so hard for me to remember how this show works. I really should stop trying and just go with the flow.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

True, but I'm thinking that Hiro telling Nathan how the future was bad and that he was a villain might have an effect on what Nathan does. Perhaps, in the 5 Years Later future, Nathan had a chance to stop Peter, but didn't. Now that he's heard Hiro's warning, he might act differently.

So Peter survived his own explosion?

Yes, In the "original future", Sylar survived his own explosion because he'd taken Claire's power. In the 5 Years Later future, Peter survived his own explosion because he now has Claire's power.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Don't scare me about Claremont's death! He hasn't written anything that I've liked in the past 20 years, but he still has a Whedonesque place in my heart!

Too cool that they used him as the swordsmith! Yep, those producers really are geektastic, as if getting Mr. Sulu and Alex the Droog for featured roles wasn't proof enough.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

The problem I see with this is that Sylar isn't actually the one who blows up NYC in the Five Years Later Future. So, it seems like Hiro could kill Sylar and still have NYC blow up.

But in both of the previous futures, Hiro wasn't involved, correct? Something kept him from interfering. If he manages to kill Sylar before the explosion, the city could theoretically be saved. (Provided Peter can keep it together...)

I still think it would be pretty cool if the explosion was part of an epic battle between Sylar and Peter and/or someone else. CGI powers battle for the win!

Sylar's Bitches
In retrospect, I could have suggested 'Watching Sylar' as the subtitle. Ah well, by the time we roll over the topic, we'll have moved on to another magnetic villain, I hope.

Thank god for this thread, because I now understand things I didn't even know that I didn't understand before. Time travel hurts.
