If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Announcement: I'm wearing a kicky little skirt and a corset. I am sipping a cocktail at 3 in the afternoon and smoking a hot pink cigarette. I've just done the dishes, now to vacuum, then later I'm making a pot roast.

Analysis: I just need pearls and I'll be convinced I've been sucked into some (slightly kinky) fifties montage.

Maybe I should send my husband down into the basement for lightbulbs and see what happens.

brenda, you might just try that. Oh, and make a casserole to go with the pot roast!

I've finally finished my taxes and post-copying they are ready to go. To be fair, they were "done" the first week of Feb. I just needed to do a math check and put it in pen. Which I didn't do until now.

I was also alarmed by the dust bunnies on the table (from the book scanning adventure) and thoroughly cleaned that off.

I have carne asada and guac from TJs which I will eat over romain hearts for dinner.

So my weekend may have been very very pointless and blah, but I seem to be pulling a little bit out at the very end.

Oh & my brother's promised to youtube the video he took of one of his runs at Talledega. Where he did not break anything on the car. He thinks it'd be boring to anyone not him, but I wanna see it. Cause he's crazy.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

How is the job search going?

Confusing. Just when I thought I had made up my mind about leaving academia for publishing, I went to this conference and got super validated research-wise. And then I got invited for a campus visit at a Top 10 liberal arts college. So, good, but mentally exhausting.

Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in...

It should be over soon though. My campus visit is the 4th and my final interview with the publishers is the 14th in NYC. And I would be thrilled with an offer from either.

That's terribly whiplashy. But I'm glad it got you to B'more that one time! And that you're getting a lot of validation from all sorts of different angles.

The evil is this way?

It's not you, it's me.

Ditto, Topic!Cindy. Or maybe it's you and not me. I dunno.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

now to vacuum

I read this as valium, and it was a much different montage I was picturing.

That's what the liquor is for.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hee.

Okay. Bread is baked. Grocering is done (and under budget!), dog had a wonderful time in the park and seems perfectly healthy. I still have to put away the laundry and the rest of the luggage, but I think I'll have time to start work on my materials list and be able to call it a productive day.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I hope ita's doing okay.

I mean, I don't need to send her any well wishing on the actual krav as I trust her ability and discipline. I just want her body and her brain to hang in there for such a grueling endurance test.
