I just realized that I have not been at a company for more than 2.5 years. EVER!
I expect like any other job, it will make me insane sometimes, but it will be compensated with 28% more insanity buffers.
I have to say, that's totally true IME. My current job pays way more than I've ever made before, and it still makes me insane (as you all know!), but at least I'm not also angry about my paycheck.
People with phone phobia:
Do you get excited when you call someone and reach voice mail, or do you feel it just prolongs the whole experience? (My reaction to voice mail is usually "SCORE!")
At first, I read this like, "Holy ass," was his nickname, rather than just an exclamation of surprise.
Not a nickname in this case. But there is one sysadmin with whom I dread communicating, and I think he wholly deserves the Holy Ass moniker.
Announcement: I am now leaving for a vacation! I won't go to work again until Tuesday!!
Analysis: It is a little frightening how much a mere 4 days off, two of them weekend days, is pleasing me.
I've now been at my job for just over ten years, in fact. It sure doesn't seem like that long....
(My reaction to voice mail is usually "SCORE!")
Oh, yeah, plus a feeling akin to the commutation of a sentence.
I've been at my current company since 1994. I've been in my current job (minus a few job title upgrades that changed exactly 0 of my work) since 2000.
Apparently I set down roots.

I think it depends on why I'm calling. If I need to fix a problem, I want to reach a person. But I totally have been all "voice mail, SCORE!" on other less pressing matters.
