They should film that story and show it every Christmas.

I should have called in zombified this morning. Why did I stay up so late? There was no reason!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Paging Dr. Schadenfreude....

Ahhh, bless you, tommy. I know it's incredibly trivial and petty, but it's still very cheering.

I just looked at the Amtrak site because I don't particularly want to drive back to Michigan for a wedding in a couple of weeks. The travel time they have listed is two and a half hours. Dude! That's way faster than driving!

Also, cheap. I might be sold. I just need to make sure someone can pick me up at the train station.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's incredible to hear from the East coast, shrift. Up and down the northeast corridor, Amtrak is slower than driving and as expensive as flying, for the most part. It's more pleasant, for sure, but still.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

To make up for the irritatingness of school of late (well, for me, at least), today, we are watching The Princess Bride in class. We read the book, so we're doing the comparison thing.

The kids are loving it, both those who have and have not seen it before (How have people not seen it before?)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I am currently using some remote desktop software to control a client's computer in Washington, DC. It's the weirdest feeling - knowing he could be watching everything I do, or not at all, or someplace between those two....

Anyway, not much time to slack at the moment....

It's been a while since I've taken Amtrak anywhere -- last time I think was to Toronto when I was still in college. What they have listed on their website may not match up with reality, but if I take the train, I will report back!

That calls for Schadenfreude Pie.

Because books.

Exactly. The train from Syracuse to Penn Station takes five hours or something crazy, and you could drive it in three on a good day. And it's over $100, too.

Grr. Don't get me started. It's enough to drive one into the arms of Fung Wah! (Although I gather Greyhound has come just as cheap.)

Last time I took Amtrak (granted, six years ago now), the fast train was more expensive than flying and about the same speed, and the slow train was still $100+ round-trip, and took six hours either way.
