Their place is wherever they want to be; any right-thinking person would agree with me.
In their exuberance, they sometimes throw themselves into the comma's place, although not nearly as often as the comma usurps the semicolon's rightful seat.

I find that this is generally true, most right-thinking people think so also. It makes me sad when the comma oversteps its bounds, however I think there's not much that can be done for it.
I don't want to interrupt all this semicolon talk, but you know what's great about today? Feels like 3:30, IS 4:30!
My problem is that whatever time it is, it feels like time to GO HOME. And yet, NSM.

One stuck in right there after bounds. Those commas are sneaky creatures.
Diets shouldn't count on one's own birthday unless you're a diabetic and the cake & ice cream could prove harmful in an acute manner.
ION, what's the last thing that made you smile?
Teppy's peptalk! It also made me cry (seriously--I'm leaking tears here!). I love you all so much; you (and my family, too!) have really kept me on this path of better living through eating right and exercising. I don't think I could have gotten this far without your help and all your advice, which I am going to follow!

I've mentioned this before, but the farm's been in the family for three generations... I'll be sad when it's sold....
Tommyrot, I can completely sympathize. Last fall, my uncle and aunt took my mom and I on a drive to the family farm that another uncle sold to developers a few years ago. They had finally gotten all the permits, etc., to begin on the new subdivision, so they had torn down the house and outbuildings and apple trees that I spent my childhood climbing and already put up a few sample houses. Mom and her sister looked for a few minutes before they could even figure out where they house they had grown up in was located on the property--the only way they were able to locate it was by the one tree that was still standing.

That was the point.
Alas, misusing commas isn't as funny as I had thought.

Unfortunately, you can't use whips and chains.
I was trying to go along with the joke.
