I see your bug ice sculpture, and raise it! Bug origami! (It's actually pretty amazing - every one is one uncut piece of paper.) [link]

Oh my -- that origami guy is incredible. [link]
Why is it that when I leave the building for 20 minutes to get lunch, my inbox goes crazy? And people are seeing errors that don't exist when I look at the screens in question?
Also, it has come to my attention that I am unhip, at least in terms of fashion, and I'm wondering when my wardrobe lost its funky.
I don't like today. Today is mean.
On my drive into work this morning, the talk radio show I listen to got on the subject of online universities, so I decided to call from my cell and tell them about the MLS program I applied to through U of Illinois, and also mentioned that most library schools are now offering online options. They asked a few questions that I answered as well as I could, and then wished me luck in the program. I came into work, and put it out of my head (I call into WGN radio all the time, including last night).
I just went down to the cafeteria to get some ice water, and ran into some friends from another department who said they heard me this morning. I apparently have a very distinctive voice, because they are not the first co-workers to recognize me while listening to the station.

A) Says who?
B) You're so damn funky yourself, you infuse everything around you with the air of "damn, that's cool." It's why I hang onto you.
I just ran into the two most junior members of my department out for a smoke break, and tried to give them a little bit of a pep talk. At least one of them has the worst job fit possible right now, but it's mostly because it's her first job out of college. I'm actually really impressed at how un-bitter they both are, all things considered.
And then I looked at the consulting rate my predecessor is getting, and feel like quitting ANY FUCKING DAY NOW, because I am getting increasingly bitter. Bleh.
A) Says who?
Sadly, me. I found out that I could have gone to a concert for free last night, and realized that I didn't have anything to wear except jeans and a Batman T-shirt.

Aww. Thanks.
and realized that I didn't have anything to wear except jeans and a Batman T-shirt.
Huh. That's, like, 95% of my wardrobe.
Anyone surprised?
I am not knocking the Batman. But a little more variety in my Not-At-Work clothes might be good.
