Rock on, Kathy!
Hey, does anyone know -- was
Knights of Prosperity
canceled? It wasn't on last night, and I thought it was supposed to be.
Thank you (not that I can claim credit for him). I think he's practicing to be a buffista boy with the tiara.
Ah but Daisy, you can claim more credit for him than anyone else here.
My impression is that Ethiopian food is somewhat similar to Indian food, and that I wouldn't like it.
Strega is me, where Ethiopian food is concerned. I tried Indian food several times, when I was younger. I tried very hard to like it, but it never worked. Of course, I was with my friend who knew no more than I did about Indian food. Perhaps if I had someone knowledgeable with me, I'd feel differently.
I've gotten less adventurous with food as I've gotten older, which I think is sort of backward of me. I've never been all that picky, but I care less and less about trying new things. In part, I think this comes from already loving so much food.
I don't think there's that much similarity between Indian and Ethiopian food, but the only decent way to answer your issue would be for you to sample.
That's good to know. This may be another thing for me. On one of the rare nights that I get to go out to eat, I want a sure thing, not an experiment. If people would kindly bring me new delicacies to sample at home, it would be a whole different ballgame.
Oy, Cindy on the lower back. Do you have a heating pad or anything?
I do, Nora, unless my mum borrowed it, but I can't decide if this wants heat or ice, so I'm doing nothing, which is probably stupid.
I did this to myself. I napped on the couch yesterday, and slept on it, the night before (and napped on it, on that day, too). I so very much know better. Last night, I slept in our bed on my side, with a pillow between my knees, but sometime during the night the pillow escaped and I ended up on my stomach. I don't even like sleeping on my stomach. I'm not sure what's up with that. I'm a side or back sleeper.
The 4 Advil haven't done much more than take the edge off the back pain when I'm sitting. They have, however, given me a headache (so unfair!!!), so I am a little distracted from the back pain. I'm shutting up now.
If you're generally not interested in eating stew-ish food situations (lentils, greens) with a sour bread product, Ethiopian is probably not going to be for you, regardless of the flavors. That said, I think the flavors are pretty different from foods people typically eat in the US, so that's another thing that people don't like about it. Me, I like it, but it's always funny watching people (usually on a date) completely freaked out about the whole situation in an Ethiopian restaurant.
I just made calls about rolling over past-job retirement money! Nothing's done yet, of course, but I totally started! And one of them seems to have done pretty well over the past few years. Not that I ever contributed much, but still.
I'd put some heat on it, Cindy. Sounds like you didn't pull anything, and the heat can help relax it. I know I get that type of pain often and I like heat for it.
I don't think it will hurt it though.

I wouldn't mind a stew, and like hot spices. My only sour bread experience is sour dough bread (which I like). Is this a similar sort of sour, Jesse?

Okay, Nora. Will do. Scott told me to take one of his muscle relaxers, but I can't. Besides being an uber goody goody about Rx medicine that hasn't been prescribed for me, I'm home alone and will have to get the kids from school, and then be home alone with them. I can't take anything that might leave me unable to defend myself from them drive.

Hmm. Yeah, I guess so, but the texture is more like a thicker crepe. The whole thing is just very different from what we're used to, but delicious!

That's completely unjust!
Beau is a complete and utter cutie bo bootie boy.
Go Kathy with the increasing strength and endurance! That's excellent news.
I like lentils and puffy bread and spices and yet I am not wild about Ethiopian food. But I feel I should give it another try or two.
Indian food, however... oh, oh, oh. Medium-spicy spinach with paneer, garlic naan, little bowls of savory dipping and dabbing and sprinkling sauces, and hot tea or cold beer. My One True non-mac'n'cheese comfort meal. So. Good.
Bleargh. I'm feeling not exactly sick, but throat-cruddy and droopy and like it would be irresponsible to go in to work for a bunch of pediatricians down the hall from the intensive care unit -- and, yet, not exactly sick. Just bleh. Matilda is coughing and sneezing and generally shooting fluids out of her fce at a tremendous rate, so she's home with me. She's very cheerful and lively, though; I'm gonna give us both a cold'n'flu aromatherapy bath, and maybe that'll conk us both out for a bit.
Hey, does anyone know -- was Knights of Prosperity canceled?
Not officially, but... yeah, probably. Earlier this week they pulled it from the schedule.
I've been able to eat Ethiopian in the past, but it's not one of my favorites because it's heavily stewed-- mushy vegetables and braised meats are not my thing. Indian food IME (it's hard to generalize since it's such a huge country) is not quite as stewed and mushy.
Yeah, I guess so, but the texture is more like a thicker crepe.
I initially had issues with injera because of this (I have Crepe Issues,) but managed to get over that. Its appearence sometimes gets a negative reaction, but not enough to not eat it.
Today's Dinosaur Comics was especially funny. To me, anyway: [link]
This also amused me:
March 8th 2007: Here is a treat! David Blankenbaker was kind enough to forward me an OPERA written by his friend Dr. McMuffin, which I pray is not a pseudonym. It is an opera based on Dinosaur Comics, specifically, this comic about sinister raccoons. It is so awesome. It is a short opera, a "prompt and business-like opera", as the Doctor describes it in his letter to me, but is nevertheless moving and firmly establishes me as both a comics author and a librettist. I think I may be beaten out by Too Much Coffee Man for the first opera based on a web comic, but this is definitely the first that has RACCOONS singing counterpoint to dinosaurs.
