One candy bar or one missed exercise session never made anyone fat. It's the habitual candying up, and not swimming that's gonna hurt you. Choose the thing that's going to keep you away from the bad habit.

This is such good advice. When I was on this diet back in 1999, I started "supplementing" after nine months of being really strict with it and losing 80 pounds. Two years later, I had put on all the weight I had spent that year losing, and then put on another 50-60 pounds in the four years since. All because I threw in the towel and went right back to my old eating and not-exercising habits. That's what I'm kicking myself over now.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Shit I Did Not Say:

No, I cannot provide you with [ridiculously obscure piece of technical information about a particular product]. Why? Because it's a stupid question. Nobody needs to know that. Nobody *wants* to know that. So stop calling people and asking fucktard questions and just go back to playing "Minesweeper", 'kay?

Fucktard.

Lunch today was really good, and really basic--just a cold chicken breast with pineapple and shredded carrots, vinegar-y cole slaw (which kept on dripping on my peach sweatshirt, damnit!), and rice pudding (not bad, considering I was never a fan of it before). Oh, and some crackers, too.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

My fave snack at home is baby carrots & snap peas in non-fat Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is Teh Bomb.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I've found middle-of-the-road just doesn't work for me in dieting. It's too easy to slip up, or forget, or think "well, it won't hurt to eat a big bowl of pasta just this once." Making the decision to strictly follow something extreme is do-able, it allows me to concentrate on what I should be doing and work toward a specific goal. Almost three years of trying to eat healthy and control portions never made a dent in my weight after the sudden inflation of 2004, but I've kept up a loss rate of about 4-5 lbs. per week since the last week of January and I don't feel like the restrictions are all that hard to live within as long as the period of privation has a definite scheduled end.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Ugh. I accidentally bumped my hand against the side of the oven while putting the chicken in, and now I have a red mark by my knuckle. Also, Gold Bond cream is really not good for burns.(Luckily it came off when I stuck my hand under the cold water)

I've been reading through some of my cookbooks, weeding out the ones I'm never likely to use (why did I have six cookie cookbooks?!?) for the company's charity booksale later this spring. The Weight Watchers one is really excellent, with some good recipes, even what looks to be a really easy one for naan (yummmm).

I have Indian food on the brain this week.

Sheryl, be careful when you cook!! I remember the time I leaned my knuckles against the iron while I was getting ready for work--had matching burns across all four fingers.

What is even happening?

Unless you're literally moving your leg, that does no good. No more kicking. You're having great success, Kathy.

I'm the opposite, when actually dieting to reduce. If I feel deprived, I fall off the wagon and never get back on.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica
