Zoe: I thought you wanted to spend more time off-ship this visit. Wash: Out there is seems like it's all fancy parties. I like our party better. The dress code is easier and I know all the steps.

Mr. T did the same clear-cutting at his Lake Forest (IL) home a few years back, but they didn't have an ordinance against cutting down trees that were on your own property, so he just got a lot of flak from the press and neighbors, but no fines.

City of Atlanta and DeKalb County both have pretty strict tree ordinances. You have to get a permit to cut down a tree if it's healthy and above a specific size.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I know in Weston, MA, there is a city ordinance that you have to have your house screened from the road by trees. Have to. OTOH, you can have whatever kind of house you want, which is why there are gigantic, ugly castles in Weston, MA. You just have to squint really hard through the trees to see them as you drive by. Or, recently, look over the treetops and see the castle spires.

There is something bizarro about staying with a contractor/builder who is costing you left and right for things like failing to get permits and serious safety issues. I mean, arrogance might have something to do with it (money doesn't matter to me!) but at the same time, you'd hope competence did matter. Sounds like there are a lot of stupids going on.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I think some fools might have been pitied as well....

like failing to get permits and serious safety issues

You would think those would be some red flags.

The top 11 subway systems in the world.

I'd rate Paris over London, myself. Though they're both awesome.
