hip deep in pie

How can you win almost every major award and say you weren't expecting this?

Helen Mirren was refreshingly honest on Baba Wawa when she at least intimated that she was expecting to win. (What she said was usually you know that you're not going to win and you can relax, and that this year, she's not relaxed.)

She also had a funny bit where she admitted she never wore trousers because she had a big butt and short legs. Then she started saying "And I never wear shorts. Why do so many American women wear shorts?"

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

snakes! on a plane!

I watched that for the first time last night! Such fun! I loved the way they basically jettisoned everything that wasn't snakes on a plane. "We need to set up the premise." "Yeah, as long as it doesn't cut into the snake time." "We should catch a bad guy too." "Make sure there's a snake involved."

Hey. New board.

I have a want-a-kid crush on Abigail Breslin if that counts. She is the cutest thing in cutesville.

Am I the only one that yelled HOLY S**T WHAT THE F**K? when Pan's Labyrinth didn't win? Because I thought that was a bit of an upset.

Our wings are not tired.

I've seen almost none of the films, so don't know if the award was desrved. Hudson just brings on the @@.

Because books.

Eva Green looks ... scary.

I thought Jennifer Hudson seemed pretty genuine, but I missed the other awards shows this year. Also, given her relative newness to the business, everything has to seem like a dream at this point, I would think.

I am sad about the Dime Museum. But also intrigued by the idea of buying a stuffed capybara.

I'm think I'm actually glad there was more snow after I cleared my car off. Air pockets make it easier to chip off, rather than sheets of pure ice.

That's totally why I didn't clear off my car. Well... that was totally my rationalization for being lazy, at the very least.

I knew the guy who plays the sun, Haynes Brooke

Love him, and the concept, so much. In a rush here, gotta warm the planet.

Hey. New board.

I loved Pan's but that doesn't mean I'm mad - I haven't seen Lives of Others. Just surprised. Pan's labyrinth has a 98 on metacritic. That's the fifth highest rating EVER, and most of the top four are re-releases (like, say, The Godfather). Usually, critical adoration goes along well with things like "Foreign Language Film." Though Lives of Others is holding pretty strong there, too, so whatevs.
