Shit I need to say today:
Before, you told me that your direct can run her area however she likes - you won't interfere. Today, you get snippy with me because she told me to include her on any meetings you have with her directs. I got spoken to before when I was too much of a gatekeeper, and now I'm too flexible. I am confused, and you're making me feel like shit.

We bitched about the loss of monthly donuts, but not least of all beacuse the company stated that it was for our health. There was also bitching about the variety of teas available, but mostly because it was unequitable across the many buildings we were housed in--the higher the average pay, the more kinds of teas available.
As perqs go, I'm more likely to slaver over more vacation days per year, or more stats, but those are expensive. More expensive than raspberry tea.

Why do companies comp sodas for people making $100K a year when they can afford to buy their own damned sodas?
This company doesn't, at least anymore. World HQ in MI has soda machines on every floor and coffee works on the honour system--25 cents a cup. Here, we used to get free soda but with the recent troubles in the industry, the VP felt it was bad form to continue. Coffee, though, is still free in the DC office.
Do you want to know what perq causes people to act like their families are being slaughtered? Company cars and fuel cards. I have never seen such vitriol in my life. I, for one, am everlastingly grateful that I have a mode of transportation that costs me much, much less than if it was actually mine.
