And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Except we don't have AI yet. Back then people radically underestimated the difficulties associated with AI.

I can't remember how long ago we had this conversation here, but there was some argument that the threshold for what's considered AI has been moved over the years. By some standards, "smart" automated customer service lines could be considered rudimentary AI (they understand human speech and respond accordingly, some are even programmed to respond to human emotion), we just don't call them that.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Actual AI just seems too scary to me.

I lead a very dangerous rock and roll lifestyle!

Apparently! I had no idea about the Hidden Risks.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Happy Birthday Katie!

Freezing fog sounds gross, and I am amazed no one has based a horror movie on it.

I love Shit I Didn't Say. It's very cathartic. I feel much better now.

Seriously

YAY! Glad I could help.

Man. Everybody keeps talking about going to get ashes, and it freaked me out for a minute before I realized it was Ash Wednesday.

Of course, I still have no idea what "going to get ashes" actually means.

Happy Birthday Katie.

I am in such a brain fog I can barely function. How am I supposed to get work done?

You go to church, they put the ashes on your forehead.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Around here, today is Finding Out Who Of Your Coworkers Is An Observant Catholic Day.

In other holiday-related news, I noticed that a local Dunkin Donuts was advertising "Paczki Donuts" with a sign explaining what they were. I guess in case they had people wondering why their jelly donuts seemed weird.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

find out your squid quotient

Your Squid Quotient = 126.5

Interpreting your results: An average Squid Quotient is around 100. A SQ of 100 means you have a normal affinity for squid. A SQ above 100 means you have an attraction or fondness for squid. Below 100 means that you should probably stay away from the deep ocean.

The test is pretty funny....
