Hey, preaching to the choir. I thought our Lady of the Perpetual Sea Breeze was the real deal until the Divine Miss J walked right through that door and right into my ass—which is where my heart is…physiologically. I could show you an x-ray.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm taking Monday off. Yay! This weekend is the Delray Beach Garlic Festival. [link] They have already shut off a number of streets prepping for this. It is one of our bigger festivals. This time of year there is something non-stop going on. I probably won't actually attend so much as walk around and enjoy the sounds and smells.

I have plans to get over to see the parents and sibs after the kid activities on Saturday. Baseball & paintball on their schedule. Not at the same time.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

YAY MONDAY OFF!! I have my parents in town this weekend, for activities including the Queens Museum and Avenue Q.

Also, YAY Cobert ice cream. I wonder if my grocery store will have it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Monday looks to be less off of a day than usual--I've been offered three classes to temporarily add to my teaching. I think I'll take two of them.

Otherwise it's pretty much hunker down and pray for a respite from the migraine storm.

I've also been hearing more and more through this that-- don't tell erinaceous-- Denis Leary's act was taken wholesale from Bill Hicks, and that's why comics hate him.

Hmmm. Maybe some of the content, but I think Leary's delivery is very different. There are a couple of Hicks DVDs out there; I really should get around to picking those up and comparing - it's been a while since I've seen any of his stuff.

Given Leary's high profile, it wouldn't suprise me that some of his fellow comics are finding anything they can throw at him that doesn't smack of sour grapes.

Ow. Is that a stab at human nature, or comedian nature? Sure, there are bitter people in every field, but a charge of material theft, especially from a high profile comic isn't to be bandied about without citation. In fact, that's why it raises my eyebrows. Should be easy enough to prove or to slam claims thereof.

Always Anti-fascist!

There are Hicks jokes that lLeary has used. I'm not sure that's a rip-off. Dennis Miller also used "What if you could blow yourself?" back when I liked him, too. Oh, the things I know.

My car is FREE! I had to carve out the ice from all 4 tires. Broke an ice scraper in the process. Then I moved the car to a part of the lot they'd cleared out. Apparently tomorrow they're bringing in a backhoe to clear out as much of the ice as they can.

I also saw a guy who was clearing the ice from the sidewalk with a pickaxe.

I thought this was common knowledge. Because, yeah. I liked Leary until I heard some Hicks albums.

Human nature, definitely. Though I do think there's a connection between the the ego-driven nature of show business in general in conjunction with the failure to success ratio, and a level of bitterness, jealousy etc. that's above the mean. If that makes sense, which it may not since it's late in the day on a Friday.
