And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It's official!!

NEW YORK -- Stephen Colbert may have no taste for the truth, but he does have a sweet tooth. Ben & Jerry's has named a new ice cream in honor of the comedian: "Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream."

It's vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel.

Announcing the new flavor Wednesday, Ben & Jerry's called it: "The sweet taste of liberty in your mouth."

The Vermont-based ice-cream maker is known for naming its flavors after people such as Jerry Garcia, Wavy Gravy and the band Phish — which Colbert sees as a political bias.

"I'm not afraid to say it. Dessert has a well-known liberal agenda," Colbert said in a statement. "What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case."

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I have Monday off. And it looks like I may be spending some quality time at the airport this evening, as a friend just called to tell me her flight has been delayed.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Mmm...tasty liberty.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm taking Monday off. Yay! This weekend is the Delray Beach Garlic Festival. [link] They have already shut off a number of streets prepping for this. It is one of our bigger festivals. This time of year there is something non-stop going on. I probably won't actually attend so much as walk around and enjoy the sounds and smells.

I have plans to get over to see the parents and sibs after the kid activities on Saturday. Baseball & paintball on their schedule. Not at the same time.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

YAY MONDAY OFF!! I have my parents in town this weekend, for activities including the Queens Museum and Avenue Q.

Also, YAY Cobert ice cream. I wonder if my grocery store will have it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Monday looks to be less off of a day than usual--I've been offered three classes to temporarily add to my teaching. I think I'll take two of them.

Otherwise it's pretty much hunker down and pray for a respite from the migraine storm.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I've also been hearing more and more through this that-- don't tell erinaceous-- Denis Leary's act was taken wholesale from Bill Hicks, and that's why comics hate him.

Hmmm. Maybe some of the content, but I think Leary's delivery is very different. There are a couple of Hicks DVDs out there; I really should get around to picking those up and comparing - it's been a while since I've seen any of his stuff.

Given Leary's high profile, it wouldn't suprise me that some of his fellow comics are finding anything they can throw at him that doesn't smack of sour grapes.

Ow. Is that a stab at human nature, or comedian nature? Sure, there are bitter people in every field, but a charge of material theft, especially from a high profile comic isn't to be bandied about without citation. In fact, that's why it raises my eyebrows. Should be easy enough to prove or to slam claims thereof.
