Don't care about hobbits, like Elevenses.

I think Cindy is the model Buffista. She is the buffista we all wish to be, our guiding light, our shining hope. Damned Cindy. Why couldn't she be me?
Serial:
Oh, and because I'm likely to be out of town during the entire discussion & voting period on the next issue...
I really oppose it. An idea that was proposed but not acted on wasn't necessarily a bad one or an idea most people opposed: it might be a victim of bad timing, of being dropped in the middle of another discussion, or of being worded poorly. Also, factors on some issues mnay have changed significantly -- for instance, we may want an Alias, Miracles, Gilmore Girls, or general TV thread more if we're faced with a Fall '03 TV schedule that is ME-free. Finally, I don't think silence on a particular proposal should be read as a "no" when it most likely wasn't intended that way.
Also, if there genuinely is significant support or opposition to an issue, all we will have done by sending it to a vote is wasted a week. I don't consider that too high a price to pay.
I like elevenses. And for the record, in Chile we still have "onces" which is actually like afternoon tea, but it is called "elevenses". Doesn't have anything to do with time, though. The legend has it that the proper society ladies used to drink aguardiente, a very strong alcoholic drink, in their tea with their afternoon cakes. These veddy proper society ladies couldn't just say "Hey, let's get ripped and eat sweets now." Instead, someone would politely suggest that it was time for "onces" since aguardiente has eleven letters in it. Then they'd all get ripped and eat sweets. Also, as far as I know, no Chileans are Hobbits. So the anti-Hobbit faction could just imagine that "It's time for elevenses" really means "It's time to get ripped and eat sweets." and that's just fun for everyone.
Question: Do we actually have an elevenses-based thread title yet?
[edit: Thread title suggestion, I mean. Because I'm fully pro-elevenses, but I think our campaign would be stronger with an actual title to suggest.]

I think that even the pro-Hobbit faction could get behind this idea. Champagne truffle, anyone?
Elevenses.
Is there an absentee ballot option for Lyra Jane?
Jess, I think the suggestion was:
Natter -- It's time for elevenses.
Or something like that.
Or something like that.
This was exactly the suggestion in scrappy "Bureaucracy 1: Like Kafka, Only Funnier" Mar 29, 2003 3:58:42 pm EST:
Natter--it's time for elevenses
And (surprise) I'm all for it.
I am pro monkey!
