Angel: He is dead. Technically, he's undead. It's a zombie. Connor: What's a zombie? Angel: It's an undead thing. Connor: Like you? Angel: No, zombies are slow-moving, dimwitted things that crave human flesh. Connor: Like you. Angel: No! It's different. Trust me.

Let me just say that popularity with people on public transportation does not equal literary respect. --Jesse

a post in the relevant thread bearing a Stompy logo

This was discussed a while ago. It would need a change to board code so that stompies were able to post images, or that a post so tagged had a Stompy Seal on it somewhere.

I think it would have quite a visual impact, as this place is generally sparse-looking and low on images. (Which is a Good Thing, of course).

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Because I just realized that people may not be familiar - sorry, parochial American moment - there is a position in the United States Congress called the "whip." I think it's the number two position in the party, and the whip is the person responsible for getting Congresscritters to line up behind the party for a vote. Which is why the pun.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I'd rather not have a thread title that makes fun of the thread itself

I don't see Big Whoop as making fun of the thread so much as saying that we don't take ourselves too seriously. I think Dead Horse, OTOH, makes fun of the thread.

I know -- I thought it was a cool idea then, and wasn't sure if it had been dismissed in BBaBB or what.

I believe the best idea from that conversation was a quickedit tag that only stompies could use that would post the specific image.

a quickedit tag that only stompies could use that would post the specific image

We need to check though, at some point all tags get stripped -- that code would need to run last or the image would get taken straight out again.

What about one more field in the table, "official_stompy_post"? -- there would be a checkbox, only visible to stompies, next to each post.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If you use a special quickedit, there's no issue with tags being stripped, since you're not entering a tag.

John H - Mar 19, 2003 2:40:33 pm PST #8168 of 10001

you're not entering a tag

Silly me, sorry. I was thinking about that Pretty-Inboard-Link thing that happens once, not dynamically every time.

Pseudoephedrine is Not My Friend.

So all you need is an if-clause in the post-displaying code -- if they're an admin, replace "!STOMP" with the stompy image or whatever.

And this is probably more Building than it is Bureacracy, eh?
