The Dead Horse title makes me sad. Even though I voted against the new thread, I want to believe that it's going to be useful and productive discussion.

The Dead Horse title makes me sad.
It really was just a joke.
Yeah, but there are people who like it more than Whip Appeal, and that makes me sad.
I think it should be called "Imagery of Cranial Trauma" myself... NB: This was a joke.
The Dead Horse title makes me sad.
That's why I withdrew When Buffistas Attack. Gives the wrong image.
I still think When Buffistas Attack needs to be used as a thread title somewhere, where it's not implying divisiveness.
The image of Buffistas attacking en masse, or a Fox special about Buffistas getting medieval on people, just gives me giggle fits.
Whip Appeal makes me think Cool Whip. Er, actually, and has nothing that I can see to do with voting or voting discussion. Some joke about highschool debates or caucuses or those funny gigantic-voting machines with curtains that move via lever, and you might woo me.
Away from the One True Threadname: No Big Whoop. It's all about the discussion.
Well, there's the part where bitterchick is going to be the Whip, in the Congressional Sense, and the part where people will be appealing to posters to vote their way.
From "Enemies":
Wesley: We must contact Giles immediately.
Xander: Good thinking. Let's waste time with a lively debate. Leave Buffy alone. See how dead she gets.
go no big whoop. choose no big whoop.
That says that if we suspend Mieskie, he waits out the suspension, comes back and is still unpleasant, we ban him. It's clearly intended to deal only with the situation of a poster who complies with a ban, but doesn't learn the lesson. It has no reference to people who come back as another username immediately after suspension to get their last word in.
We don't have a policy on that.
You're right. We don't. Obviously, there's only a couple things we cna do. We can move from suspension to banning, obviously. That doesn't preclude someone from coming back under another name. (Incidently, I don't believe this will happen again with Mieskie, at least not any time soon.) I'm not sure what options we have if it becomes an incessant problem, short of having their IP shut them down. Which I'm not above.
