Right. Piano. Because that's what we used to kill that big demon that one time. No, wait. That was a rocket launcher.

I felt the same way when the "it's not a real consensus, it's just whoever's in Bureaucracy at the time" complaints started to lead to this whole voting thing in the first place.

Jessica, were you one of the group asking for a movie thread? By which I mean, were you feeling unfairly singled out when people were using phrases like "bullshit consensus"?

So now, because of that, it's a slightly different group of however-many people doing the bulk of the talking and decision-making, but nothing, really, has changed.

I am honestly baffled by what you can have meant by that. Something huge and fundamental has changed. We're going to vote on stuff.

I dunno. I think there's a big difference between 10-20 people discussing something and coming to a "consensus" and 100-135 people voting.

Can I be pedantic and point out how it's different?

It's spread out over a week, so it's never going to be dominated by a group of people who are on at the same time -- plus it gives an equal share to people who might only get on the board an hour a day, as opposed to people like me who are lucky and can have it in the background at work for eight hours a day.

It's spread out over the whole community, so that people who are more shy or more lurkey get an equal share of input.

It doesn't require you to be articulate or convincing or a fast typist -- you have an equal input with someone who is all of those things.

It allows you to express unpopular opinions without making yourself unpopular.

Really.

We voted as a community that voting to decide things was a fundamentally good idea.

We have a couple of minor, but surprisingly niggly, points to clear up. That's where we're at.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

John just said what I would have, only better.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I feel like we're very close to getting the voting procedures in place, which I think will be used sparingly and appropriately and non-tyranically and will achieve the one thing which they are supposed to achieve: let more people be a factor in significant decisions.

That's the only thing happening.

And, Woo Hoo! I'm in the Gang of 14! #9! In your face less than 9 people! I am so way more blabby than you. Ha!

Not javachik

Since it wasn't mentioned, just a quick note that there are 81 names on the list.

I am here if thread-making is needed. What title was chosen?
