Okay, did anyone read my previous post? The vote as proposed alienates all th buffistas who voted for supermajority. I know that we want to determine what was meant by the voters, but let's open the poll up to all buffistas and start fresh. Now that we've ruled out supermajority - what do buffistas want as a majority?

What do you think a "simple majority" means and how would you like it applied to determine future votes?

Choice 1: An option which recieves more than 50% of the vote wins.

Choice 2: Whichever option has the most votes wins

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Are we ignoring questions with more three or more options for now and addrressing that issue later? Because this could easily be interpreted to mean that if there are five options and nothing gets 50%, then the vote fails and we can't talk about the issue for x months.

Again, is this a re-vote or a poll to see what people meant at the time? If people can't change their minds (on the honors system), then we don't really need to give them more information. If it is a re-vote, I think we get back into the preferential vs. runoff thing which will have us going in circles for awhile again.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Not at all. We don't need to decide preferential vs. runoff at this point. I just think your wording may make it appear that there will be no runoffs or preferential balloting or any other winnowing-down-of-the-options system. I read it and think that if no choice gets 50%, the whole question fails.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Email me if you need me.

Just FYI, John, your email isn't in your profile.

Again, I would re-word if we are re-voting. I can see that. Right now it is a poll of what one was thinking at the time.

Do we want to do a re-vote? I am really unclear.

I'm afraid now we need a new vote that includes everyone, even the people who voted for supermajority.

I am actually starting to agree (especially since I can't remember how I voted in the first place, or what I thought at the time)

Possibly a vote asking for a clarification of the definition of majority is, with an explicit statement that ties and multiple choices will decided later.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Was supermajority fairly defeated?

Ugh. I hate bringing it up, but if it's between A & B or between A' & B, you're not going to ge the same number of votes for B both times.

Horse is out of the barn on this one, and I'm considering clawing my own eyes out instead of hitting "Post message".

It will need to be a more complex thing to clear this up.
