But my biggest concern is that hundreds of Buffistas have no idea what the fancy new voting procedure is. So is there any plan to announce that too?
It is my understanding from cindy's proposal that we are first to decide IF we want to vote (by vote, so it is sort of silly) before decideing the procedure and/or what we will vote on.
The discussion was announced in Press, as was Cindy's proposal. The procedure for this vote right now is email, but I don't think the mothod is worked out yet (see Jon's post).
I do share Burrell's concern with the 2 day voting period. Perhaps we should make it longer.
Also, I fear that people don't read press. Although it was created to keep people from cross-posting in 8 billion threads, perhaps we need to educate some of the new posters that Press exists by posting about it in show threads? I don't know how else to do it.
Where are you getting this? I thought it was four full days -- all day Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
So I misread? I thought Cindy's post said Midnight Wednesday to Midnight Friday.
We're both wrong, Burrell -- it's three (Weds., Thurs., and Fri.). The days are midnight to midnight, EST.
So, um, HOW are we voting? In here? Via Mr Poll? Or through some new email system? Or was the vote planned before there was a means for tallying it?
Burrell, for this vote, everybody is sending emails to vote@buffistas.org and I'm countin' 'em by hand. Once it is determined (or not, I guess) that voting is how we want to make our decisions, fancier and schmancier balloting procedures will be designed.

Ah ha. That's not in Cindy's post (the one linked to in the Press) nor is it made explicit in the discussion that follows. I backtracked to try and figure out how we were supposed to vote, and even so it still isn't at all clear to me.

I read Press, Apocalypse and COMM religiously. Even when I'm not posting for weeks on end, I show up almost everyday to read those threads. They're quick, they're easy and they are interesting.
I think the idea was after the discussion any changes would be made to Cindy's post, and reposted to open the vote, along with instructions.
I still am counting 48 hours for the vote. Am I that bad at math? Pathetic. That's why I can't participate in the higher math discussions.

it is the people whose names I hardly even know, in the show threads or in Firefly that I don't think even know some of the other threads exist.
