Nobody

I hardly ever go to the cinema - because dammit, we're too tired. If we get out some night here or there, it's usually for dinner. As someone who loves movies but hardly ever goes to see them, I think if a movie has gone to video and I haven't seen it, it's my tough luck if I go to a movie forum and get spoiled.

In other words, I like the two weeks in the theater/two weeks on video rule.

eta...

Let me be more specific. As someone who loves movies, but doesn't go to see them - I don't think the world owes me white font because I don't get to the movies. I'll be happy with anything and have learned from years at Buffy boards to avert mine eyes quite quickly.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

There should be someone (or ones) responsible for announcing what movies come out in a given week, or which ones have been out two weeks (same with video). I suspect that there will be confusion otherwise.

I could do new releases. The problem may be that some films do spread slowly, so I may assume a film is wide because it's in D.C., but then discover it's not in, say, Wichita. Does anyone know of a web site that lists nationwide release dates?

What I meant was, I think the two week/two week spoiler policy is fine for most people. To satisfy my own insanely-heightened spoilerphobia, a movie thread would have to consist of:

Buffista 1: Saw No Way Out last night on video I can't believe that...

Buffista 2: Please whitefont that B1. I haven't seen it yet.

Buffista 1: Of course, how inconsiderate of me.

Buffista 3: This thread sucks.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Title: Buffista Movies 1: Who doesn't love Denzel?

Slug: Someone else write this because I suck at slugs (and I know one was already written, but I'm too busy right now to look for it).

Header: A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Slug: Did you know that the Chinese characters for "movie" translate literally into "electric shadow"? Isn't that pretty? Um. Yeah, so, this is the Buffistas movie talk thread. Drop on by.

(P.S. Can we please drop the "O" in old to lower case? "old and new"? That second part isn't a complete sentence. Thanks!!)

Sue's slug was pretty good:

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras.

Edit: Oops, this is actually part of her header. I apologize.

Oh, I thought that was the header. Isn't a little long for a slug?

It's actually kind of both:

Sue "Bureaucracy 1: Like Kafka, Only Funnier" Feb 18, 2003 12:55:03 pm EST

But I agree it may be long. My suggestion was:

Movies and Foamies and Oscars, oh my! The Buffistas go Hollywood.

But I'm not especially attached to that -- it was just the first thing to pop into my head.

Slug?: A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. Spoiler policy at the top of the thread.
