I like the rules in Ovies, I think they work. I can't remember them, as I only read the 'Hollywood Gossip" thread, as I see about 2 movies per year, except in the summer, when I have time.

A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

justkim, could you make that an HTML link? It makes the screen long. Thanks.
Speaking as a tape-delayed Buffista, I've given up on the show threads altogether. So do as you please.
Making the Movies thread non-NAFDA is a headache I don't want to get into. Non-US release dates are too random and difficult to track.
Any longer than a month after wide release, and most of the people who want to discuss the film won't be able to remember it well enough to do so, is my feeling.
Some of us parental units, for practical reasons, aren’t able to see most movies until they hit video. If spoilers are going to abound in the thread, I doubt you’ll ever see me poking my head in. Which is a shame, because I love talking about movies.
I'm rather like Wolfram in the pratical problems of seeing movies in a timely fashion. I don't mind reading all kinds of general spoilers about movies except the real HSQ points. Whatever policies are agreed to will determine if I dare peak inside the new thread.

Same here. I'd say that if it's something that might be in a trailer or a mainstream press review, it's fine for open discussion, but whitefont discussion of plot points with a high HSQ until the film's out on video.
I think video release is a bit long. Two weeks to a month, leaning towards two weeks sounds good to me. By then, if I have any interest in a movie and am keeping any kind of track of it, I know most of the major twists. By the time a movie comes out on video, you might even have forgotten what you've seen in a thread.
(Sorry for the natter, but HSQ? Huh?)
