John, you're walking a thin line, here. You're harassing this person. He's done nothing wrong.

Sorry for assuming Americanism, my fault.
If someone insists that they're innocent and there is no substantive evidence to the contrary, we must publically assume he's innocent. If we persist in saying "We don't believe you," we are in the position of having to prove our statement or risk slander. Or merely stubbornness.
For the sake of argument, let's say that they are the same person and that this person is doing this to get back at us for the banning.
Well, you're handing him the community on a silver platter and telling him to use it as a frisbee. This is rapidly turning into a witch hunt. It's going to get ugly. There will be considerable fallout. And the Buffistas won't be the same place when it's done.
So, yes, by all means, give him that power.
I hate that idea so much that it will be really hard for me to behave normally around him in threads.
This doesn't sound like a community issue to me. It sounds like a personal between the two of you, and since you're already emailing him about it, maybe that's where it should be dealt with.
Because I'm more than ready to move on, and I know I'm not alone in that.
What Kristen said. She even used the word "witchhunt", which was in my brain from the beginning.
The way I see it, the point of community standards is to guarantee peace. Well, here I'm seeing peace being disturbed by an attempt to enforce community standards. (And BTW, asking how to enforce a ban from this board is a good question, but I think that it should have been asked at the beginning, when those rules were being drawn by you guys. The way the Internet currently works, I'm afraid there's no easy way to do it).
And that's all I have to say. Can we rest now, Buffistas? Can we rest?
(Answer quickly, because this cross is burning like a bitch).

Thank you, Paul, for putting this so well.
ohn, you're walking a thin line, here. You're harassing this person. He's done nothing wrong.

I think Allyson and Kristen are really REALLY right here.
We are not bound by any law, except the rules that are decided here. I didn't read the posts that resulted in suspension, but for whatever reason it was decided here that the poster be suspended. I do feel it is pointless to have rules and consequences if they are ignored.
For the reasons John and many others have mentioned it may be the suspended person back again in moustache. If that is the case it offends me and I think it should be handled “officially” in some manner. I am not a stompy so it isn’t my job.
What bugs me the most is that this person is causing disharmony not only in his posting, but it has carried over to discussions about his status.
Perhaps I should use the same personal MARCIE filter I use when reading other threads in here as well and skip the unpleasantness.
Quiet note: I am unsubscribing from Bureaucracy. I will re-subscribe when both posting volume and general tone have become more Buffista-like.
If you need me, mail is good.

Yes. This. Or what Kristen and Allyson said.
