Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The technology's there.

The replacement name isn't.

Really? Threadsuck is up and running?

Up with the sun

Why did we decide against "download"?

John H - Jan 21, 2003 1:27:55 pm PST #3477 of 10001

The only problem I had with "Threadsucking" was finding it.

It's tucked under the title of the thread.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah. What's wrong with "Download thread"? The interface is so sweet that clicking on it by accident isn't a disaster.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

(Btw, apologies for derailing threadsuck into here. Name discussion, and rightly so, is back in BBaBB.)

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

2) If we do build a user filter, can we please consider NOT naming it marcie? I am not at all comfortable with applying the connotations from the show episode to our actions here. Are we trying to painfully alienate and ignore someone to the point of invisibility? Do we want filtered users to feel like Marcie? I don't think so, I think we're talking more about our personal comfort levels. So perhaps could we find a better name? I wasn't in on the original discussion, so apologies for not hitting the topic then.

I don't care so much about the name, I just wanted to point out that there are both polite and rude ways to use such a filter. If you tell someone you've Marcied them, that's rude--I'd even say it's bating someone & likely to get some of us pissed off (including me). The point of the filter is to silently shuffle someone in there so they don't get your blood pressure roiling.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

The point of the filter is to silently shuffle someone in there so they don't get your blood pressure roiling.

Agreed. We could add 'discreet, for your protection', but for the persistent image of a woman on Prozac running along a beach somewhere.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Steph, what's this extra section you said was missing?

I did? I think you have me confused with another witty and sexy Buffista.
