Only no personal attacks on people who are registered here Or as you said no shitting where you eat. Which you practice.

Anyone not a registered buffista is fair game. From Celebs to annoying cow-workers to evil ex-bosses. And registered buffista are fair game if it is part of the Kristen and Allyson show.

Respect and a willingness to back down and be Doblerized.

Up to a point. I don't think respect includes giving veto power to the most easily offended.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

If the person won't apologize after a polite informal request than they get a formal warning. If they ignore that suspend. If they ignore that ban.

Something I think should be stated clearly for newcomers reading the procedural discussion in this thread: the move to warning stage isn't a hair trigger thing that would likely happen in response to a single poorly-chosen post (unless it were a massively inflammatory one) or disagreement. It's not so much a matter of saying one thing that one other poster takes offense at, as establishing a pattern of offensive behavior. Most of us will have our snippy days now and then, and might say something that will rub a fellow Buffista or two the wrong way—and that's understandable.

Maybe a separate politics thread, or Current Events one?

I would be intrested in this. On the other hand, I might not vote yes for it to happen, because this is heading thread-for-everythingwards. I'd like to talk to Buffistas about all sorts of things: politics, history, culture, art, language, movies, music, science, and so on. I suspect that most of the Buffistas are cleverer than me, and there must be a Buffista specialist for practically everything. It isn't, however, appropiate (as far as I can see) to make threads for all these things, because if I wait long enough they'll be mention breifly in natter. If I miss that discussion, that's bad luck, and I have to wait until it comes up again.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

I want to make my case for a music thread a bit more strongly: I don't, any more, have the time or energy to keep up with Natter. It is, to me, the equivalent of a neighbourhood pub (or "bar", 'Murricans) which has become waay more popular, and I don't know half the people there, and with the time diff and all, I don't really have time to. As much as anything I pop in here to catch up with those Buffistas I got to know and love when the volume of postage was way lower. I'm aware that I may come across as unhappy that this place is so popular, which is so far from the truth - when I look back at the TT Buffy threads and see what you/we have evolved into, it never ceases to amaze me.

Anyway, this comes back to my basic point - a music thread I could keep up with, listen to Hec and Fater's advice and opinions, generally contribute and be a part of. I'd really like that.

I'm with Jim here.

(...Although I may have missed some of the argument, as I have just skipped over 300 posts in Bureaucracy.)

As I understood it, based on the last count, creation of a music thread was going ahead, and we were looking for names for it. (I'm for a music thread, BTW, in case my last post was misundertood. I'm just hesitant to keep making more and more and more threads.)

I give this information for those who, like Fiona, skipped the very heavy stuff.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Not that I want a Movies thread, but the rule that's worked well for the TT Ovies forum is that white font is used for the first two weeks of a film's wide release, and after that, it's fair game.

Up with the sun

So who's starting the music thread? I'd rather just have one at this point, and worry about consensus on swells vs. sing about and a perfect blurb later.

and so you're limited to reviews of new films and whitefont for everything else.

You can establish a rule about this -- films released more than N amount of time ago (I like 18 mos. or 2 years) can be spoiled with impunity. We could also define "spoiler" as including only key plot points. There is a general movies thread on another board I frequent, and honestly we've almost never had anyone complain about being spoiled. But then, most other people aren't oversensitive freaks who won't even read TV Guide Buffistas.

I also think I could theoretically support a movie thread but not a cooking or parenting thread, on the grounds that like Buffy, movies are entertainment, while cooking isn't. (But where does that leave Natter?) Anyhow, it makes.no.sense.to allow a TTT thread and not a general movies thread, but it's not something I feel a burning desire for.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I guess the TTT thread makes perfect sense to me, because it has kept a good deal of the obsessive level of TTT stuff out of other threads (thus making it possible for me to ignore it). I doubt that most movies would have as high a level of exchange as TTT or LOTR.

I also think I could theoretically support a movie thread but not a cooking or parenting thread, on the grounds that like Buffy, movies are entertainment, while cooking isn't.

But to me cooking is entertainment. I don't watch movies that much, but I cook as a form of relaxation almost every day. I also think there are more immediate threads I would rather see (Like a form of the West Coast Watch-N-Post) before a movie thread. Obviously that a YThreadPreferenceMV deal.
