I realized that it would have to be an entire thread full of whitefont. Music, unlike movies, doesn't have a plot to get spoiled. If you're in the LOTR thread, then you're there to talk about at least the first two LOTR films, and if you don't want to be spoiled, you don't go there. But -- as your surprise, ita, at getting spoiled for Love Story in I think it was the Angel thread reminded me -- there will always be someone who hasn't seen the movie under discussion in a General Movies thread, and so you're limited to reviews of new films and whitefont for everything else.
Bureaucracy 1: Like Kafka, Only Funnier
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

Typo Boy, I feel as though it's like being a columnist, or satire cartoonist at a newspaper. You can talk trash about everyone and everything...except your fellow columists.
You don't shit where you eat.
Not at all, Michele. I've participated in movie threads before, and there was no problem. Hell, I get spoiled all the time in Natter.
Note, I don't want a movie thread. But the mechanisms are simple enough that people with less organisation than us do it right.
I realized that it would have to be an entire thread full of whitefont.
This is a very, very good point.
Or so it would seem to me.

Do you mean fellow columnists at that Newspaper? You can still trash the columnist for the NY Times as long as the NY Times is not the paper you are a satirist at?

Yup. That's how I feel about it.
My personal objection to a movie thread is that I'd either not be able to subscribe or it'd be something else keeping me from work.
My ideological objection is that I don't think movies are underserved by natter, as people were arguing that music is. Only an event film with special interest for a large group of Buffistas is a poor fit with that thread.
Alright that makes sense. I had accepted the rule, but it is easier to understand if you think of it as a "don't shit where you eat" thing. So if Julia Roberts ever joins the board, we all have to be polite to her...
Actually no problem for me; I never felt the Julia Roberts hate anyway.

So Dick Cheney joins the board...
We have to be polite to him. Or else not let him join the club. (Always an option - if there is someone we feel we absolutely cannot abide being polite to.)
