Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Question: What is James at 15? What does it have to do with real people?

It was a very bad, very earnest tv show in the 70s. It has nothing to do with real people, given that it was, you know, a fictional tv show.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

I'm not even going to ask what James at 15 is.* Whatever.

Person 1: "I just read Blankety Blank and I loved it. But I suppose it's already been discussed in Literary."

Man, I'm laughing like a loon. Blankety Blank is one of the cheesiest of kitsch gameshows in the UK. Heh. The prospect of a book version being discussed earnestly is glorious.

eta *Ah. I don't have to, because y'all have told me. Fair enough.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

We had an Australian version too. When I left, they were playing reruns on a cable channel. Combine the cheesiness with a reminder of 70s fashions and hairstyles, and it's comedy gold, baby.

Thrive to spite them

I'm selfishly wanting a Music Thread because I want to ask questions about music more in depth than it gets discussed. My musical education is sadly lacking and I want to know more.

I don't want to make a thread about something and then say "oh it can never be discussed in Natter again" however you can't have the level of discussion about, fanfiction or The Two Towers that goes on in those threads that we can in Natter, that's just the way Natter is.

I just don't see the value of more threads over less. And I think that Natter will inevitably suffer from the sloughing off of subjects.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I really don't understand the votes against general music and movie threads. There are a number of people who have asked for these dedicated threads because Natter does not permit in depth discussion on those subjects anymore. But if you didn't want to leave Natter - you're free to talk about anything you want there. Nobody has ever said "Take this discussion out of Natter and go put it in Literary or Bitches." Unless there was a NAFDA issue.

There's no fair or logical reason to have Literary and not allow Movies or Music - especially if some people want to have Movies and Music. If we've allowed threads as tightly focused as single show threads on Farscape and Due South and Smallville, it makes no sense to me that we couldn't have general boards on Music or Movies.

hip deep in pie

I am for new movies and music threads.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So far, I have offered no opinion on what should and should not be offered. I have explained how I (meonlyme) post, and how the proliferation of threads negatively affects that. I do not expect to change anyone's mind. Farscape's existence doesn't justify a music thread to me. It's why I don't want one.

Are we voting here, or are we just talking?

I've voted: no.

A better tallier than I is required.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm voting: yes.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I will officially abstain. I can see the pros and cons of having these threads. If they are created, I will likely use them. If they are not created, I won't miss having them.
