It's all about choices, Faith. The ones we make, and the ones we don't. Oh, and the consequences. Those are always fun.

Bureaucracy 1: Like Kafka, Only Funnier

A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

I am the anti-new-thread girl, but what do people think about a "Help! Need a tape of!" thread? I hate to see these things risk getting lost in Natter.

I don't think getting overlooked is a threadworthy problem. It's not like only two or three Buffistas are kind enough to send a tape. It's like getting help crossing the street during a crossing guard convention. UnAmericans have fewer options, but they already have a thread. I say, if at first your tape request gets missed, cry, cry again.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I thought Plasmo should post it there, because

1. I see that thread as the continuation of Roll Your Own, and
2. I'm convinced we had the "what to do about bad posters" discussion in RYO

Am I confused about either of those things? I'm happy to admit I'm easily confused.

You're not confused, because that's how it was. When we were talking about policy over at WX, it belonged in RYO because that was where we were talking about how to manage the new board. Now that we're here, the discussion becomes bureaucracy, because now it's a discussion about managing *this* board. The BBaBB thread is more for the technical aspects of running and improving the board. Does that make sense?

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Aren't tape requests usually posted in Press?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I concur with DX on the Bureaucracy/BBaBB distinction.

Aren't tape requests usually posted in Press?

Haven't been yet, and I don't think they should be. Press is for things like concerts, appearances, stuff like that.

I just feel really bad when I see tape requests drown under natter. Especially on voluminous days.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hey, can we set up buffistas.com and .net to forward here?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I would think that an "I need a tape!" thread (which I myself would have used yesterday, had it been an option) would go on the admin side. I tend to check Beep Me and Press whenever I see new posts there. I would imagine a new post in Tape! would stand out in the same way.

You sip / say it's your crazy / straw say it's you're crazy / as you bicycle your soul / with beauty in your basket

I don't think it would be so voluminous that it would become an annoyance. I'd be for the thread.

I would think "I need a tape" could go in Beep Me, but if y'all are hellbent on another thread, I don't care THAT much!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If you come back after 3 weeks dark to check up, do you care that I can't work my VCR? I'm very Beep Me pro keeping it pure.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh, and when/if Beep Me rolls over, I'd like to see it titled: Beep Me Daddy, Eight to the Bar
