And Kaylee, what the hell's goin' on in the engine room? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

John, do you mind if I riff on this for my tagline?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Because without positive ID, we don't know until he posts? Because, as corny as it sounds, we're supposed to be better than he is?

The username picked would cause confusion, whether or not it's the same guy. The email sent to him didn't assume anything.

The price of freedom is being nice to dickheads until we've got enough real evidence to nail their asses to the wall. With rusty nails.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's moot. All the e-mails are bouncing. And I do think that we have precisely every right to avoid confusing IDs. Anyone registering as connie niel should also be asked to pick something else to avoid what is certain to happen when they post.

And that's all we did.

Just on a purely administrative note, we don't allow people to sign un with the name "FUCKERS", do we?

Didn't Thomas Paine say that?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think we've come to some consensus about the whole Fuzzy Logic About Similar Names now. And that seems to be - certain names aren't allowed (because they're like Tim Minaer) and that names which are variations of banned people are suspect and polite email saying the burden of proof is on them is a fair response.

Uhm, I'm a little tempted to go register the names Hecubot and Manservent Hecubus though just because I'd feel weird if somebody else started posting under those names.

Thought I'd drop you another welcome, Nicole3516.

People don't always respond to my posts, and I've been here a while. (God, how long has it been, and am I a real Buffista if I'm in the FAQ? Kidding, kidding.)

As one of the people who posts in the Firefly thread, I'm glad to see mieskie gone. I thought about engaging him in the thread, but due to frequent bouts of blinding rage brought on by working on fan campaigns, I decided I didn't feel like getting involved in another land war in Asia.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

We have a (is it stated? it should be stated in the official docs) policy (discussed here, I think) that we can eyeball IDs for offensiveness.

The e-mail I sent was brief, but said that the ID violated community standards.
