Grr, argh.
But, sort of inevitable, right? That's what happens when the Big Boys come and play at your playground...others follow. No worries, though. We are kind, we are strong and we have a damn lot of really stompy stompy feet!
Yeah, it is probably inevitable, but... I dunno. I feel protective like a mama bear of the respectful, intelligent community here and I don't want to see it overrun by starfuckers.
All understandable. But with the stars come the starfuckers. IJS.
well, no one new to me seems to be saying anything anywhere other than in Firefly. And no one is being obnoxious. And some of the unfamiliar names might be long-time lurkers.
And even 400 registrees isn't a big deal. Let's not panic until there's anything resembling evidence we need to panic.
I will say, it's a bonus that people can come here, read Joss's posts, and not have to register. And, I think, that the posts can be found easily. I'm wondering, if we do get Joss-dotted, would it help to put his and Tim's posts on a static page, and redirect queries for the specific URLs of their posts to that page? Or would the bandwidth be the same in either case?

Very true. I'd forgotten about that.
Yeah, I was thinking about a VIP archive, too. The problems I have with it are a) I dislike the lack of context in those kinds of pages, because you only see one side of the conversation, and b) it puts Tim and Joss (and any other VIPs) at a higher status than the rest of us. I'd rather keep the posts where they are, and Nilly them, because that way at least, people can see what the rest of us are like, too, and then they'll either like the place and hang around, or get terribly bored, and wander off, figuring it's not worth the trouble.
