Okay, now that Thanksgiving is over...
LAistas, I'm having a Meara is here/holiday brunch, and I hope you can all be there. Sunday, December 14th, 11:30 to whenever, at my place. I'll send out an email to the list with my address, but please email me if you need directions or anything.
I'm cleaning house and have decided to part with my Spikeloost shirt. It is a size medium baby tee and I'll send it to the first person who emails me. Profile addy is good.
I would like to urge as many Buffistas as possible to call any or all libraries in their area to request the Firefly DVDs.
Just a suggestion I was going to make in the firefly thread, but Press probably will reach more people.
I was at the public library in town yesterday and decided to ask the information desk about how one goes about requesting they buy a DVD for their collection. she offered to take my suggestion and pass it on to the proper suggestion/request for buying.
It appears that although they would not buy it as soon as it comes out, this may be the perfect time to request a DVD set, as most libraries budgets start the first of the calendar year.
(Of course, you can add a side note about Buffy DVDs....)
Basically this info is what I suggest:
- The name of the DVD "Firefly - The Complete Series"
- Twentieth Century Fox Home Video
- The release date of Dec 9.
- Reinforce that you understand things are not bought quickly.
- Mention that although cancelled, the series has enough critical and fan support for a feature film.
- Currently ranked in the top 50 in Amazon.com DVD sales.
- Thank them for their assistance.
Note:
most public libraries have a form to fill out for requests for purchase
alos - some libraries are in a major crunch right now. due to the economic down turn. - this will be a one of the slow areas for recovery. If you have the dollars ask if you can donate a specific item for circulation ( some libraries will not guarantee that donated items will go on the shelf)
Attention Santa-Slackers!
Tomorrow (December 1) I am going to assign gifters to giftees. If you want to participate, this is your last chance this year to e-mail me at my profile address with your details (board name, snail-mail address).
If you already did, then tomorrow you'll know which Buffista is the lucky one who will get a present from you.
Thanks!
Wolfram & Hart Annual Revue News!
The Attendee List is up at our site!
We only included the folks who checked the option to be on the public list, so it's not nearly complete by about 80 shy people.
You can still register for the party, we have about 65 openings left.
We're working on Friday's pre-party with CityofAngel.com, and will have more details in the coming weeks.
Some of the webmasters are working on lunches and other activities for the weekend, check out our Wolfram & Hart Annual Revue Message Board for details.
Darling Violetta will be performing at the party on Saturday night.

Attention jobseeking Bay Areaistas and friends and beloveds of same:
If you have any experience with transcription, especially medical transcription, there is a job awaiting at UCSF. In my department, for my old boss, and in fact more or less (there's been some people-shuffling) sortof-kindof my old job. Not great but decent pay, very secure job, excellent benefits, oddball quirky office in which you'll be allowed to dress as you like, pull in some overtime if you need it, and when circumstances and frustration warrant vent with a good loud "Fuck you all you fucking fucks" without a Big Stompy Foot squashing you flat like a dead panda.
The HR site at UCSF doesn't allow links to individual listings, but if you're interested or you know anyone who is, email me and I can point you to it. I'm also still friendly with everyone in the office and would be more than happy to schmooze and chat up anyone and everyone to help out a fellow Buffista or a Buffista beloved.
On the same vein as JZ's post, if there are any Chicago-area peeps who are looking for an accounting job, let me know.
This is the monster posting for the job, but if you want to apply, I can get a referral bonus if you get hired. So, don't send to the email listed in the posting, send to me!! Profile addy good.
