COME ONE COME ALL TO THE 2004 FACE TO FACE
In the F2F thread we are wrapping up the discussion on where next years gathering will be. The vote will be Friday.

OK. It's now official. TWO gigs in California this month--one's more a party, with lots of me and Thessaly reading, and shennanigans, the other is a benefit for Midnight Special Bookstore in Santa Monica, where I'm reading a poem or two.

GIG #1:
Who: VICTOR D. INFANTE & LEA DESCHENES (Thessaly), doing that poetry thang, including the release of Lea's new chapbook, "Life is a Bridge on Fire."

There will be an open reading, and we're actively trying to stack it with SoCal's best.
GIG #2:
What: benefit reading for Midnight Special Bookstore.
Who: Viggo Mortensen, Saul Williams, Patricia Smith, Regie Gibson, Victor D. Infante, Marvin Bell (Iowa Poet Laureate), Georgann Deen, Mike McGee, musician John Condron--host Mark Eleveld, editor of Spoken Word Revolution.

We're trying to get a feel for how many people are/would be able to attend both of the potential F2F locations. This poll is informal, and will be open for at least a few days.

LAistas! The Great South Bay Book Swap...
...where book lovers can trade in their used books for someone else?s and support the San Pedro Library. On November 15, 2003 (10-3) at Angel?s Gate Cultural Center, participants can drop off gently-used fiction, non-fiction, poetry, young adult and children?s books as well as books-on-tape and return home with just as many new-to-you items from the community pool. The requested $5 participation fee and any leftover books will be donated to the San Pedro Library.

Halfway through sending out Gift Exchange messages tonight I was interrupted by a pathetically ill Blue Eyed Boy (the full story involves stomach flu - you really don't want to know any more). I hope to finish sending out the announcements tomorrow.
