Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

A Buffista-planned baby shower is a wonderous thing!

We had a wonderful time on Sunday. There was a brunch! There were pastries! There were crafts! Buffistina will have one of the most eclectic onesie collection around. I have so many thank yous to send to so many sweet and lovely people. Since this isn’t the Oscars & I have every intention of thanking folks personally, I’m just going to mention here the few who really went far above and beyond anything I could have asked for.

To Kat, Lori, and Allyson, who threw the shower: Wow. Just wow. It was perfect. Casual & fun. The invitations (hand made by Kat) were works of art and yes, this sap of a mom is keeping one safe for her little girl (you know, for that baby book I may get to making someday when she’s about 16). And let me just note, Allyson knows pastries. She is wise in the ways of eclairs.

To Dani, msbelle, Jesse, and Katie: I was so very touched by your thoughtfulness. It seemed at once so very Buffista and yet so very incredible to get gifts from people around the Continent that I have yet to meet in person. Katie, your card made me cry! And msbelle the read-along DVD is just too fabulous for words!

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I had a bagel and chopped liver for breakfast this morning, and it was FUCKING GREAT!

Many thanks to the Buffistas for being so kind, it was a lurvely surprise, and OH MY GOD NEW YORK BAGELS AND LIVER!!!!

You really shouldn't have, I'm so not deserving.

Mucho smoochos to Trudy for being Super Organizerista.

Hey hey hey!

Maya and I are barrelling toward businesshood. We're propogating! [link]

You'll notice that our page is rather plain. We're looking for the perfect photo from F2F to put on our site, and could use a wee bit of help from the shutterbugs at the party.

Got a pic to submit? We'll need permission from the photographer and the subject(s).

Much appreciated, profile addie is perfect!

Another social casualty...

So, Emmy nominations were announced this morning.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer "Chosen" and Firefly "Serenity" both received nominations for "Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series". Those were the only ME nominations I saw, though I did move through them quickly.

David Greenwalt's Miracles received a nomination for "Outstanding Main Title Theme Music".

Full list is here.

Not javachik

Anyone want me to put them in touch with the person who's hiring a full time blood drive coordinator (for the local blood bank)? Starting salary $36-40K, BA nice but not required if sales/non profit experience. The job is in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. E me if so.

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

What a great way to start the day! Thank you so much for the Amazon.com gift certificate! I am really touched that you would do that for me. I admit I don’t post all that much (mostly because I’m in awe of everyone’s wit and way with words), but I lurk here a lot. And I’ve always felt like a Buffista. This is the first place I go after logging on every morning. You guys are the best and this really means so much to me! Thank you!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

This is ridiculously short notice -- but it appears I will be at liberty tonight to visit with any Chicago area Buffistas who are around. I'm going to run get a late lunch right now, but I can check my email (at the address on my account here) starting in an hour or so....

I am right on various train/subway/El lines here in Evanston, so getting to Chicago or elsewhere should be not so impossible.

Thanks for all the fish.

Hello. As some of you may be aware, I've been organising a character quote deathmatch in The Quotable Buffy thread. The rules can be found here. I've collected quotes for most of the major characters, and we'll be playing to see which quote seems to best sum up or represent the character.

For those who have not yet completed Season 7, I will note if any of the character quotes are spoilery. Reasons why character quotes may not be spoilery may include, but are not limited to - the character did not appear in season 7; the character appeared, but did not say anything memorable in season 7; the character appeared, was very memorable, but nothing intelligible could be heard from around the ball gag; I'm mad with power - MAD, I TELL YOU!

I'll be posting the begining of each match here, so that people can participate fully and freely. We'll be getting started Monday evening (er, evening my time, noonish board time).
