It's not like it won't get funded in just a few hours, but -- Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk have an IndieGogo campaign for a new web series that does in fact get them back in a spaceship: [link]

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

So! This actually happened a bit ago, but well, stuff happened, and some of you already know, but still. Anyway! I'm proud to announce my first mini-album has been released! It's a three song EP. I do blues/jazz covers of "Hanging Tree" from Hunger Games, Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar," and my own original, "Sleepin' In." (spoiler alert - it's not about sleeping!) Head over to [link] to take a listen, and throw me a couple bucks if you want to download the tracks!

I was fortunate to have some excellent musicians work with me on this project, including Berklee grad Dr. Keith Cochrane on trumpet & bass, my former intern (yes, that one) on drums, and an amazing Honduran pianist, Mauricio Espinal. Plus, production courtesy my superb SO. It was a goofy little project that started out as a joke, but I'm proud of the work, and would love to hear what you guys think of it!

It's also available for sale on iTunes etc., for more info, hit my new website: sumiko.org

As today is the first day of Spring, I want to wish everyone a NoRouz Mobarak - Happy Persian New Year. I love this day, a fresh start in so many ways. One of the Persian New Year traditions is to go visiting friends and family. While I can't visit each of you in person - if I could, I would.

This is one of my favorite holidays in that it crosses all religion, it celebrates rebirth and renewal, and it literally means New Day.

Because books.

If anyone knows an author who's writing women's fiction (more plot, a little less romance, but romance in the plot is fine) or mysteries featuring female sleuths (cozies, comedies, even historicals, are welcome), they're welcome to submit to me at amy.garvey@gmail.com, or at this link, through Submittable: [link]

Lyrical Press is an e-press through Kensington Publishing. No advances are offered, but the author does receive royalties on each book sold. They're actively soliciting the type of books mentioned above. Spread the word, if you can, and let any writer friends know? Thanks!
