I think this is a cool project, and I have struck up an acquaintance with the documentarians who are making it(I intend to put up some birthday money if they meet their funding goals.) No pressure, but I really want to see that happen. And, yes, it'll be cool to be in Special Thanks in the credits. [link]

I'm pretty sure I will be out of town for 8-9 days around Thanksgiving week. If there's Buffista who'd like to stay in my 2-bedroom place in Oakland and use it as a sightseeing base for that week, email me. No smoking indoors, and dogs are welcome.
The online booksellers are starting to show up for Sam preorders...
I'll be in San Francisco on Sunday the 10th, talking up Sam at Book Passage and making an ass out of myself as well.
LAistas! We are selling our TV armoire--the piece of furniture which gets the most compliments of anything we own. It's Mission-style, gorgeous wood and has room for a zillion components. The ad says $250, but we would be happy to sell it to a Buffista for $100. [link]
My latest diary on Daily Kos...more info on the Grayson documentary...contribute, spread the word, christen my tip jar...it's all good. [link]
Carpool to DC!
On Friday 10/29, I will be leaving Ft Wayne, IN and driving to Hil's in Pennsylvania. From there we will be going to Washington for The Rally, and then returning on Sunday 10/31.
If anyone is interested in A)Riding from Ft Wayne or B)Getting picked up along the way, let me know. Profile addy is good.
I posted in Bureau about wanting to do the Holiday/Year-End gift exchange mahooha this year. I want to use elfster if no one has objections and also to start a wee earlier. I guess discussion in Bureau and email me if you want in on the regular exchange. Nilly will do the Slacker as usual.
It's the time of year again for the Secret Buffista Gift Exchange! Ok, it's actually about a month earlier. In the hopes of having more time for people (to send multiple things or messages or taunts) and having fewer late gifts, I am starting early.
Anyone interested in exchanging small presents with other Buffistas during the holiday/year-end/solstice/non-religion or culture specific season, Follow this link to join elfster and set up a profile with your preferred email/snail mail and important info: [link]
I am hoping this site will work for us, but if we start to have problems, I will do the matching manually.
Please register at elfster by 10/30. I'll have the site match names and send out notices 11/1. If there are any issues or questions, profile address is good as is IM or FB IM (if I'm on) rlboston 14 without the space.
I know we voted on deadlines and whatnot, I'll look that up and add it here.
P.S. If there is anybody who is still giftless from the 2009 exchange, could you please let me know ASAP. Thanks.
If you have a second, feel free to click on over to my DH's blog. The traffic is way down this year--and no traffic means no pay for Mr. Scrappy. If a bunch of, say, Buffistas could visit the site every day, why who know what wonderful things could happen! Feel free to send anyone you know who is thinking of buying a news or used car that way as well. [link]
Guess what time it is?? That's right, time to consider throwing in some money to support this here site. As you know, it costs money to maintain the site, but we don't charge anyone to use it. So that's why we ask you to give.
This is the kind of thing you'll hear during pledge drives if you listen to public radio, but it applies equally here: Think about the value you get from this site, and what that's worth to you. Are you on here all day, or do you just pop in when you need a break? Have you made friends, gotten comfort, been entertained? What is that worth to you? Sorry I don't have any totebags to send you, but still.
You can donate via paypal at donations at buffistas dot org, or email the same address if you want my mailing address to send a check.
THANKS.
