I, for one, wasn't looking forward to starting my day with a slaughter. Which, really, just goes to show how much I've grown

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It looks like I'm in Washington DC next week -- Monday through Friday -- for a work-type conference. Are there any DCistas who'd like to watch Buffy with me on Tuesday night? The hotel (The Mayflower) is right near the Mall, I'm told, so I don't know how convenient that would be to anything. On the plus side, I'll have my car with me.

A Very Special David Sedaris Christmas. is being re-broadcast today (1/3) on my local public radio station. I caught a few snippets and it's pretty funny. It's listed on the website as being last week's show, but perhaps it's also repeating in your neck of the woods. FYI.

One of our Christmas shows from previous years. Stories from David Sedaris' book of Christmas stories, Holidays on Ice, read onstage by David, Julia Sweeney and actor Matt Malloy. Taped in front of a live audience in Los Angeles. (Note that David's now-infamous story about working as an elf at Macy's Department store during the Christmas season is in our Christmas & Commerce show.)

Attention Somervillains -- On Guard a French swashbuckling movie, is playing tomorrow at the Brattle. Since it's supposed to be a dreadful snow day, I'm all about leaving the car behind to go by T to see the 2:15 or 4:45 show. Anybody interested in joining me, please let me know!

Ready for a little old-fashioned swashbuckling? Well, this acclaimed French film is ready to deliver. The villainous Count Gonzague (Luchini) stands to inherit a fortune from his cousin, the Duke of Nevers (Perez), but not if the dashing duke produces an heir before Gonzague can bump him off. Lagardere (Auteuil), a promising young swordsman, is hired to do the dirty deed, but instead develops a friendship with the Duke and earns his trust when he warns him of a cowardly ambush. The pair then set off from Paris to the provinces, where a one-night stand has given Nevers a child by the daughter of a local nobleman. A wedding beckons, but not before Gonzague unleashes his worst, leaving Lagardere protecting the baby, and swearing vengeance. But, our hero must bide his time, disguised as a humpback for 16 years, hiding the rightful heir, until the time is right for revenge.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

My friends who run Punk Rock Aerobics are starting classes at TT the Bears in Cambridge, MA today. TT's is on Brookline St. in Central Square. To celebrate, they're having a party at TT's beginning at 8:30. A bunch of musicians will each be performing one or two "acoustic" versions of various punk rock classic hits.

Performers include: Cubby Berk (Lovers), Ray Needs (Beefy DC) & Tony Goddess (Papas Fritas), Bill Janovitz (Buffalo Tom), Jim Buni (Buttercup), Nate Albert & Mikey Welsh (The Kickovers), The Operators, Melissa & Meredith of Heavy Stud, Rich Pontius (The Touch Me Theres), Chris Toppin (Fuzzy) & Hilken Mancini (Count Me Outs), Michelle Paulhaus (The Dents), Dave Sakowski (Swizzle),.... and your truly. I'll be doing two Ramones songs on theremin. :)

I don't know the order of the performers, but it's FREE.

DC area Buffistas: In preparation for kicking off a Buffy rpg, I'm having a Buffy DVD party Wednesday Jan. 8th. This is remedial buffing up (sorry) for some non-fan players, but we'll probably watch the Season 3 DVDs anyway because I'M running the show.

All are welcome, email me at zone_wombat@yahoo.com.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Got a thank you note from Doug Petrie today, for the baby basket we sent.

Text as follows:

Dear Allyson,

Big, fat (if somewhat belated) thanks to you and the Buffistas for the groovy baby basket!

All loves and appreciated... The knitted hat from VA a particular favorite.

Again, thanks and love and gratitude from me, my wife, and of course little Henry Joseph.

Heart

Doug Petrie

I will scan the card in tomorrow for your viewing pleasure...along with the picture of the World's Cutest Mutant Enemylet, which was enclosed. Cute baby, man.
