It was a, what-you-call battle of wills and blood was spilled. Vendettas were sworn. It was a whole-- Fred: My God you're so full of crap. Spike: Yeah. Okay.

Compassionately intolerant

It's my birthday!

Yup, I'm 47 today...and I don't feel a day over...47!
And it is an extra auspicious day because it was exactly 5 years ago that my beloved Bartleby came home.

To celebrate the many blessings in my life, I am committing to a grand endeavor and I'm asking for your help!
I'm strappin' on my sneaks and hitting the road to train for walking the Marine Corps Marathon in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Follow this link for all the deets.

This is a year of meeting goals and making changes. I am grateful for any and all support.

And a special note to any localistas in the mood for a walk...join is for a brisk stroll around the Mall sometime!

Much obliged!

PS: I'm checking in from a friend's computer...my phone and dsl line did battle with a falling tree on Sunday and lost. No connection until after tomorrow...agh.

What is even happening?

The temporary, experimental threads are now open in the Film and TV Discussions folder.

The Cable Drama thread has a white-font for 24 hours rule. The other three new threads are NAFDA. No future spoilers in any of the threads. The threads are just for those shows that don't already have a thread home at b.org.

Happy posting.

(Happy Birthday, Beej)

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

The Virginia Tech Alumni Association has declared tomorrow (April 20th) an "Orange and Maroon Effect" day in honor of the victims of Monday's senseless tragedy. Everyone across the U.S. is invited to wear orange and maroon to show support for the VT community.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

If any Buffista out there has very tiny feet (I'd say American size 5 1/2) and would like a pair of KICKASS Fluevog shoes (vaguely low-top Doc Marten in appearance), email me at my profile addy. Plei donated them to me since they were too small for her, and though my feet are a size 6 or 6 1/2, they were not wee enough for these shoes.

I refuse to make money off of them. Seems un-Buffista-like. I gained them from a Buffista and would like to pass them on to one.

Note? Both Plei and I will be massively jealous of you for being able to wear these shoes. I considered pulling an evil stepsister and cutting off a toe to force my way in, but then I'd have to get rid of all my pretty flip flops.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

More 'Vog Details: They're a UK 4, which is usually a US 6 (I wear a US 6C), but these 'Vogs run both a touch small and a touch narrow. So if you're a 5.5W or have high arches, they probably wouldn't work. A small 6N or a regular 5.5 would work. They really are great shoes, except for that pesky size issue.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hey Buffistas!

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I said we needed some extra dough to cover an upgrade? Well, we haven't yet received the likely amount it will cost. We have the money on hand to pay for the upgrades, but we still need to cover the monthly bill as well. It's amazing that we're able to do this voluntarily, but I'm looking for a few more volunteers.

So, if there's any way you can spare a few bucks, that would be great. Remember, if most of us give just a little, we'd be golden. The money address is donations at buffistas dot org, good for Paypal or email for mailing directions.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

F2Fers:

I've made a reservation for prom space and we're beginning to try to collect money for that and the hospitality suite. However, I don't want any to feel railroaded on any of this - if you're coming to Atlanta, please try to drop by the thread and add your .02 regarding location, costs, food preferences, etc.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

They They Thought They Had Beaten It ... They Thought It Was Gone ...... but "How To Succeed As A Failing Writer" has returned, with my newest column ... Questions on Airplanes: Thoughts on poetry, cognitive dissonance and Harold Bloom.

Hmmm ... and somehow, with those keywords, I suspect it won't be as popular as the ones about sex and politics.
