To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Who rules the Internet? I rule the Internet! But not the other ones Dubya was talking about. Just this one.

I am now writing two, count 'em two online columns, the newest of which is Infante's Inferno, on Writemovies.com.

"Infante's Inferno," of course, is the name of my Live Journal, and was also the name of my old column for the "Worcester InCity Times," before they went crazy we had a falling out. This incarnation will deal largely with culture, mostly the pop variety, with my usual ... let's call it "verve" and be kind, shall we?

Of course, I'm still writing How To Succeed As A Failing Writer for Gotpoetry.com. Funny enough, HTSAAFW is the successor to the column I used to write for WriteMovies, "Writing For the Real World."

And everything old is new again.

Enjoy!

Spoiler Threads Miscellany

Item 1: When Spoilers 3: First Mutant Enemy, Now the World was opened, it was done so, with the understanding that the white font rules for it, and its successors, would be decided later. Proposed--the rules should be as follows:

All hardcore spoilage, all the time. No white font.

(choose one)
____ Yes
____ No
____ No Preference

_________________________________________

Item 2: Proposed— We open a second spoiler thread, to accommodate those who want a Spoilers Lite Thread. The appropriate and approved content of this thread would be as follows: Guest stars, episode titles, writers, and preview speculation in black font. Exiting cast, TV Guide and other entertainment articles and their discussion white-fonted. Hard core spoilers are not allowed.

(choose one)
____ Yes
____ No
____ No, because I want an all-White font Spoiler Thread
____ No Preference

_________________________________________

Item 3: Proposed – We open a second spoiler thread to accommodate those who want an All White Font + Good Labels Spoiler Thread. The appropriate and approved content of this thread would be as follows: All actual content must be in white font. Each item in a post must be labeled (in black font) with show name, and spoiler type (e.g. “Lost – new guest star!”). Suggested spoiler types are: Plot Spoilers, Casting Spoilers, Ep Title, Writers, Preview Speculation, Articles. Hard core spoilers are allowed, but white fonted as with anything else.

(choose one)

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Winter Goodies!

So, it's getting to be that time of year again, and once again, again the Grand Important Question:

What would everyone like in the way of a packet of baked goods?

Your choices (I am all about your right to choose) are as follows:

1. Lemon Bread

2. Scots Ginger Cake

3. Chocolate Peanut Butter death bomb cookies

Email me if you'd like something, at sf underscore deb at yahoo.com. Let me know what you'd like, and make sure you send me a mailing addy. Without the email, I won't be able to keep track.

Let the baking commence....

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

iStrata support is going to perform a small upgrade.

Access to b.org shouldn't be interrupted for long -- on the scale of ten minutes or so.

I believe vampires are the world's greatest golfers

I should be finished sending out gift exchange emails by noon tomorrow. If you sent a request to be included and don't get an email with your giftee's name by then, drop me a line because there's been a mixup.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Attention Bayistas: Short-Term Job Opening at UCSF

One of my supervisors has just gotten promoted and another one is going on leave at least through December (and she didn't say anything to me about it, but it's possible that she may either be out longer or get promoted into Supe #1's position) and is looking for an immediate replacement. Guaranteed work through the end of December, possibly longer.

Job duties include:

  • Covering phones for the division chief and the postdoc fellowship program (schedule meetings for the division chief, take down contact info for fellowship applicants, not too much else -- no clinical scheduling, insurance authorization, or billing, and no purchasing or accounting)

  • Light data entry

  • Transcription (clinic and admin. letters for two doctors -- I think it's roughly in the neighborhood of 20 letters total on a big week, but sometimes rather less)

  • ...well, actually, that's pretty much it. Anything clinic-related is handled by the clinic staff, and the accounting is being farmed out to other folks (unless you've actually worked at a UC campus before and feel confident enough to negotiate our byzantine accounting system, in which case go team you!).

The main things she's looking for are a good phone voice, being comfy with a Mac, and decent typing skills.

If you're interested, e me at my profile addy and I'll put you through to her. The money's not fabulous but it's on the high side of decent, the people are nice, and the workload is pretty reasonable.
