Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

iStrata support is going to perform a small upgrade.

Access to b.org shouldn't be interrupted for long -- on the scale of ten minutes or so.

I believe vampires are the world's greatest golfers

I should be finished sending out gift exchange emails by noon tomorrow. If you sent a request to be included and don't get an email with your giftee's name by then, drop me a line because there's been a mixup.

Attention Bayistas: Short-Term Job Opening at UCSF

One of my supervisors has just gotten promoted and another one is going on leave at least through December (and she didn't say anything to me about it, but it's possible that she may either be out longer or get promoted into Supe #1's position) and is looking for an immediate replacement. Guaranteed work through the end of December, possibly longer.

Job duties include:

  • Covering phones for the division chief and the postdoc fellowship program (schedule meetings for the division chief, take down contact info for fellowship applicants, not too much else -- no clinical scheduling, insurance authorization, or billing, and no purchasing or accounting)

  • Light data entry

  • Transcription (clinic and admin. letters for two doctors -- I think it's roughly in the neighborhood of 20 letters total on a big week, but sometimes rather less)

  • ...well, actually, that's pretty much it. Anything clinic-related is handled by the clinic staff, and the accounting is being farmed out to other folks (unless you've actually worked at a UC campus before and feel confident enough to negotiate our byzantine accounting system, in which case go team you!).

The main things she's looking for are a good phone voice, being comfy with a Mac, and decent typing skills.

If you're interested, e me at my profile addy and I'll put you through to her. The money's not fabulous but it's on the high side of decent, the people are nice, and the workload is pretty reasonable.

Sure I went over to the Dark Side, but just to pick up a few things.

As noted in the Lost thread I am going to be transcribing all of the episodes of Lost. (I'm working on details of where it will be posted.) I could really use some help with typing out the original Korean and translation for Sun & Jin and the original French and translation from the distress call. My profile email is good.

I got help on the Korean. Now I just need the French.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Laistas:

You now have at least two chances to hang out with the Oh so wonderful Billytea while he is in LA, and as an added bonus, get a chance to meet the equally oh so wonderful Sparky1 and her DH.

First, Saturday night (November 27th) for dinnner, probably on the Westside, probably at 7:00 (this is the one that would also feature Sparky1). More details on this to follow.

Secondly, as previously annoounced, at brunch at my place on Sunday the 28th at 11:30.

Please let me know by Friday the 26th if you can make it, and I will send out more details and directions to my place for those that need them.
