New England and New York Buffistas:
There will be a farewell party for billytea at our house on Saturday, November 6th.
Please let me know via email as soon as possible if you plan to attend. I'm thinking this will be very casual--music and food (which hopefully people will bring), dvd viewing (billytea's choice), and basic good-natured frolicking.
Discussion welcome in F2F thread.
P.S. Long live the serial comma!
HEAR YE! HEAR YE!
New Threads and Housekeeping
There has been a lot of discussion about the possibility of adding additional show-specific threads. After last week's poll and discussion, these are the thread ideas that seem worth voting on. Any threads started through this vote will be closed and archived if the show is cancelled, unless there is a specific reason to keep the thread.

Due to some questions in my inbox and 'round the net:
Yes, the Kerry Fundraiser with the conference call with Joss is legit.
The information about the event is here.
I confirmed with Joss' office the date and time, today.
The deal is, you sign up to host a party at John Kerry's site. Follow the instructions, read the stuff about collecting donations to his campaign, and blah blah blah you all know how to read a site-cakes.
The call will start at 2pm PST, 5pm Eastern on Sunday, October 24th.
And that's all I got. Confirmed, via me, Gurl with All the Info That Is Sometimes Fit to Post.
It doesn't seem that there's much buzz about this. I suggested that he post here to help get the troops together, but I dunno.
If so inclined, please post to your lists and LJs as you see fit.
High Stakes 2004: Whedon Fans for John Kerry and John Edwards
Yes, it's legit. I'm helping out by posting about it everywhere I can. Two requests;
First - Anyone in the LA area willing to host a simple party? I will help you.
Second - please forward the following around the Net. Thanks, Marsia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``` High Stakes 2004: Whedon Fans for John Kerry and John Edwards
In every four-year term there is a chosen one. He alone will face the American public, the United Nations, and the forces of darkness. He is the President.
The Kerry/Edwards campaign would like to invite everyone to host or attend parties across the nation to celebrate the genius of Joss Whedon and learn more about John Kerry and John Edwards. Mr. Whedon will calling to tell us about his latest exploits and why he is supporting John Kerry for President and John Edwards for Vice President. He'll also answer questions.
Whether you're a Democrat, a Republican, a Independent, undecided, or a flesh-eating demon, you don't want to miss this chance to hear from Joss. It will be shiny.
Don't wait to be beeped when the Apocalypse comes!
When: Sunday, October 24, time to be confirmed shortly
Where: To host or attend a party, go to [link] Look for parties with High Stakes in their title.
If you don't find a party in your area, consider hosting one! It's very easy! If you can throw a party, this is much the same. All you need is a speaker phone and to invite lots of your friends. Party hosts can download a John Kerry house party tool kit from [link] Sign up and also email us at parties@highstakes2004.com. Hosts will be given all the necessary details on the conference call with Joss Whedon.
Not sure about hosting, email questions@highstakes2004.com and we'll help.
What: Party formats will be up to the hosts. You can show favorite episodes of Buffy, Angel, or Firefly; plan a mock presidential debate between Buffy and The Mayor; or just enjoy meeting with fellow Whedonholics and talking about John Kerry! For the latest ideas and news about High Stakes, check www.highstakes2004.org.
How much: $35 to $2000, all proceeds to the Kerry campaign. We strongly encourage you to give more than the minimum if you can. To donate online, go to [link] then print out the receipt page to bring to your party host. Or, you can pay at your party using check or credit card (no cash). You must be a US citizen or Green Card holder to donate or attend.
If you have questions, please email questions@highstakes2004.com. As Angel would say, "Let's go to work!"
Marsia's Note - Hosts, especially in the LA area, are still needed, so if you can, please follow the instructions above for hosting your own party.
NY-istas!
My friends, the fine fine rocker ladies Vestal Vermin, are playing their first ever show up your way.
Thursday, Rocktober 21st at Trash in Brooklyn (256 Grand St.)
They say: "New York, New York, it's a helluva town, and we (the Vestal Vermin) are going there, for to rock like a northbound hurricane. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell total strangers you see on the subway. I hear that's a New York tradition.
We've never played out of town before, and it's our second-to-last gig possibly ever or at least for a very long time, so we'd love to play in front of actual people instead of the imaginary ones I keep seeing all over the place."

Two comments on the ongoing vote:
1. If you vote to close Angel Previously, Angel discussion will still take place in the main Angel thread.
2. There have been some questions about "No Preference." Buffista ballots include the "no preference" option because some people may want to vote on certain issues on a ballot, but not care about others. In addition, we have a minumum of 42 votes required for a ballot to count, so some people vote "no preference" to ensure we don't fall short of that. "No preference" votes aren't counted as either yeses or nos: the choice with the most votes outside the "no preferences" still wins. (E.g., if Lost got 94 "no preferences," four nos and two yeses, the nos would win.)
If you feel you voted incorrectly, you can revote here.
I have a friend who has Buffy Season 7 DVDs she's looking to sell. She says they're from Australia, PAL region 4. Any Aussies or people with region-free players who are interested can e-mail her at celia_311@yahoo.com.
