You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Somebody out there is infected. For the last week, the Somervillains mailing list has been inundated by emails containing assorted viruses. Since these viruses propagate by grabbing email addresses from the victims address book, I figure it must be someone on the board. The onslaught took the weekend off, so I also suspect it's someone's work computer, rather than home. So if "somervillains at buffistas.org" is in your address book, along with some of these addresses, it's likely you're infected.

Thank you DX. It had gotten so bad that I had unsubscribed. Btw, for the Somervillians who have gotten those messages, it's worth noting that even if you didn't open an attachment on the email, just opening the email itself seems to import the virus. I have run my virus scan every day for the past week and had to remove viruses every single time I got one of those infected emails.

The Buffista Database Grows!

Please accept my apologies in advance for the length of this post.

The buffista database is cleverly disguised as about 100 e-mails in a secret folder in an inbox on my computer, the location of which (near cleveland) is also entirely secret. In each of those e-mails is private, top-secret information about the buffista who sent me the e-mail. One of those secrets is...Birthday!

So, for those of you who (like me) are not as ept as others and can't remember birthdays, you may now sign up for the Birthday of the Month club! That's right, for no money down and only no money a month, you too can receive a list of buffista birthdays somewhere around the end of the preceding month. Bombard your friends with witty e-cards! Look as if you care about their important day!

If you haven't sent in an entry to the database, you're always welcome to do so. Just send me an e-mail at serasempre AT cox DOT net, and I'll send you the 50 pages of questions, to be returned in triplicate easily completed form.

(You don't have to answer any questions you don't want to answer and you may limit recipients, or the type of information released, in any way you choose.)

Whether you have an entry in the database or not, if you'd like to receive a monthly e-mail reminding you when to send an e-card, also e-mail me at serasempre AT cox DOT net. Unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable providing this information to lurkers, but anyone else is welcome.

If you want to send something more substantial than an e-card, but can't remember who likes supes and who likes bats, I can provide that information about those buffistas who have completed an entry form.

Remember, if you don't want to bother, Nilly always posts the happy birthday of the day in Natter (and/or other appropriate thread) and you can add your voice to the hallelujah chorus in that thread.

Finally, if you don't want your e-mail address and birthday sent out willy-nilly, please let me know. I will shortly be sending an e-mail requesting permission and e-mail address confirmation to everyone currently on the list. If you don't receive it, drop me a note, please.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Angel fans have put together a project to donate a truckload of food to the LA Food Bank. They're auctioning off donated items from the cast and crew on eBay, including a script signed by Tim.

All proceeds from the auction go to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. For details go to (or to make a donation if you like) Angel's Food Drive.

F2F 2005 DATES

I'm a bit later posting this than I planned, but I got caught in tech. We have chosen the dates for the F2F for next year:

May 20-22 (Prom on Saturday the 21st)

We are now discussing cities in the F2F thread, please come and join us. The only limitation on cities at the moment is that we're doing Central this year, so in the middle of the continent this time. We'll narrow it down to 4 possible cities by July 15th.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

RIP Ray Charles.
