Shit's all sorts of different now.

PS As MM and I found out the hard way, The Blue Room is cash only....

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

We received a thank you card from Joss & Kai, today, for the gift basket we sent.

I will of course, scan it in at work tomorrow, and post it to DavidFury.net at a supersecret page and give you all a link.

Text is as follows, in Joss' own hand:

DEAR BUFFISTAS -

I can't say enough about the thoughtfulness, generosity, decency, + good taste that went into those gifts and contributions. Having such classy fans takes the onus of being classy off us, and allows us to be vain and self-centered. Thanks! Our son will enjoy your generosity, as will other children, and that means everything

Thank you for all (underlined) your support + kindness. (Heart shape) Joss Whedon + Kai Cole.

I also got a thank you note for being ringleader girl. It was really just beautiful.

Let me just say that popularity with people on public transportation does not equal literary respect. --Jesse

I think the actor who played Rack is on ER tonight.

When BtVS debuted on UPN, I organized a fan party in support of the Musical episode, and invited the local UPN affiliate to film it. UPN had approached us earlier in the season, and filmed our premiere party.

The affiliate might come to a largish (like 8-10 people) fan party, if we invite them.

I'd like to have a Firefly Support night rally happen for the first Friday back from the break. I'd need a small handful of fans who are willing to throw a party (maybe with some dominos pizza and cokes as party food, hee), and won't mind a reporter and camera guy trampling through your living room.

We'd need a volunteers for about 6-8 cities, nation-wide.

No promises that the affiliates definately WILL cover your party, mind you. It's about a 70% chance.

Iffn you you don't own your own home, apartment, palace, etc, then this is likely not something you can do. It'd blow if you said yes, and then your parents blew a gasket.

My email address is Allyson@davidfury.net if you're willing to do this.

How it works:

Get about 8 fans to come over for a viewing party. I (or you, if you're a media savvy person) calls the affiliate, explains the campaign, and what we're doing (nationwide Firefly parties) and ask if they would like to come and do an interview. The host should be really well-versed in the campaign (postcards, Variety ad, sponsor letters).

No guarantee that the affiliates will cover your party, but if it's a slow news day and they need a fluff piece, it's incredibly possible.

Ideally, we'd like to get a good cross section of America: a northeast, southeast, south, midwest, pacific northwest, and southern california.

The idea is that a good buzz is created. Also, your family, friends, and co-workers will all tune in to watch you on television.

I've gotten a couple of emails from Firefly fans who can't do their own party, but would love to meet other firefly fans for a local FFP (Firefly Fan Party).

I'm keeping track of email addies and locations, so that maybe if each location finds a host, we can put you all together.

Realize that this will take a certain comfort level with, uh, having strangers from the net in your home. It's still a baby community and there haven't been parties yet, hasn't been a lot of personal conversation.

Again, drop me an email and let me know if you're willing to host/attend a party, and your location.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Hello, east coast Buffistas of a [relatively] southerly persuasion. I will be making trek towards all things flea in Raleigh-Durham, NC from December 7, reutrning home to Boston by about December 15. It will be me, my car, my broken cassette player, and the exciting variety of New Jersey radio stations.

So whom can I meet along the way? I have a brother in Brooklyn on whom I will impose; can the New Yorkers find it in their hearts to convene (on, say, the 8th / Sunday brunch)? Any DC-ers free on the 9th evening? (I'll even deign to watch Angel -- although, wait, it'll be a rerun, won't it?) NCistas?

Are there any random Buffistas on, like, the eastern shore of Maryland who want a visitor? Anybody in Delaware? Anyone think I won't die a horrible death trying to drive in Philadelphia? Suggestions for interesting detours lovingly compared to a AAA Driving Times map at vehemently@yahoo.com .

I promise I won't make anybody wear pink. Exciting shoes, however, are still a plus.
