Illyria: We cling to what is gone. Is there anything in this life but grief? Wesley: There's love. There's hope...for some. There's hope that you'll find something worthy...that your life will lead you to some joy...that after everything...you can still be surprised. Illyria: Is that enough? Is that enough to live on?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm employed! And, unexpectedly, I've got an office for the first time in my life.

I'm getting the pig!

So...the closing on my house didn't happen this morning like it was supposed to. As of now, I am waiting to find out when the re-scheduled date will be.

Of course, they couldn't tell me this until I arrived at Security Title.

Realtor: "I left a message for you at your home number."
Me: "Um, you do realize that I moved? Right? All that paperwork you had me sign that allowed me to move in prior to closing? Remember?"
Realtor: "Oh."

I can't torture her until the closing actually goes through, right? Right?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

OK, going on vacation until Monday/Tuesday next week. Try not to have TOO much fun while I'm gone, OK?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Going dark grey for a while.

ETA: Combination of work and personal issues, nothing worrisome, but I won't be around much.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

1) Thanks for Interview-ma - it seemed to go pretty well. Will know next week, but at least it was good experience either way.

2) Continued Life-ma sought urgently. Big'n'scary things this week.

3) ANYONE who knows anything about recruitment of elementary school teachers anywhere in the world, could you email me? Or leave a note in Bitches? Pretty please?

move out and draw fire

Thanks to everyone for the Bartleby-ma. I'm out from under Bart and LOVING my new job.

But now I need actual old-fashioned karma. State Department will decide today if I'm sane enough to go to Athens next year. They revoked my medical clearance based on a couple months of grief counseling when my father died...please use your special Buffista powers to help them make the right decision and reinstate it today. Please?

love's a dream you enter though I shake and shake and shake you

Going dark until Monday (unless, of course, I can commandeer Sean's computer for my own nefarious purposes while I'm there). Have a great weekend, everyone!

Now tagless for your comfort.

Going to be fading in and out of various shades of gray due to work/life balance issues. Nothing bad or crazy, just too busy to try to keep up for the next few weeks.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

My friend Clive, a business and technology journalist, is seeking US men, ages 20-40, to interview for a Details article on "why don't guys today save like their parents did?" If you are, or know, a guy that age with low savings and/or a lot of debt, and would be willing to be interviewed, please e-mail him -- clive at clivethompson dot net -- and tell him Misha sent you.

Confidentiality is no problem -- "I'm happy to let people be anonymous," he says.

Apartment-ma to me please? I applied for a place tonight, and would really like to get it, since applying for it meant I turned down another place! Plus, ya know, good apartment.
