Thank you for your good Karma vibes, lovely people. WeeSisterJay returns to the loving bosom of her family tomorrow afternoon, hopefully SARS-free. She's gutted to be a rat leaving a sinking ship and will miss Beijing dreadfully, but we are all bloody relieved to have her in (comparative) safety once more. She can always go back later.
My DH has submitted a resume to a company in Florida. If he gets it, we can return to the Land of No Snow, near-by family, and (hopefully) less job suckage. Any spare jobma and anti-stress vibes are appreciated.
I have an interview next Wednesday afternoon for an actual real job that I'd vey much like to get. Any and all vibes appreciated. t /hyperventilate
I will be going mostly dark until sometime Monday, since my mom is visiting. Although we normally get along, I am stressy and PMS, so don't-kill-each-otherma would be appreciated.
I finally made a grad school decision: George Washington.
Been very busy. I hate popping in here, but... We lost someone else today. A friend of ours, and a regular of Mr. Heather's killed himself.
Going up there now to see what we can do.

Some idiot severed the cable company fiber optic line in town and now all CATV is out and my nice fast cable modem is blinking forlornly at me.

It has been several hours, and Fiber Optics take a helluva long time to repair.
Sigh.
Edit: Never mind. They finally fixed it!
Going dark for a couple of days as I move to Chicago. Wish me move-ma and smooth cable modem hookups at the other end.
ETA that I am still reachable at my profile address, but note that this has changed, and since my current service seems to be frelled I may not receive any emails sent in the past day or two.

Today I quit my job. I'll be working for another month because there's a conference they want to present this stuff to, but then I'll be free!
Well, free to look for another job anyway. If anyone knows what sort of jobs a person with a MSc in Mathematics (number theory) can do and wants to tell me about it, profile addy is good. Note that everyone and their dog says "Oh you could do lots of things ... like teach!" and then can't think of anything else. I'd appreciate any pointers (also any general job-hunt pointers).
