If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me
Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
Ahem. flea (and mr. flea) are pleased to annouce that we are having a baby. I am about 10 days behind Burrell; due Sept. 4 (which is within a week on either side of no less than 7 other birthdays in the baby's immediate family - we do September well!). "Casper" (have you ever seen a 10-week ultrasound? mr. flea thought Casper was a better nickname than "Scary Alien", which was my reaction) seems fine so far - we heard its heartbeat last week. I am very well as well, except for today's overwhelming desire to nap at work.
I would like to congratulate Nutty on holding her tongue this long - I broke the news to her as she was on her way to a Somervillian gathering, and I thought she'd die trying not to tell you all. Also of note, hers was the best reaction to the news: "How did this happen!?!" Hee.
I'm all surged and have been home since 4. Lots of pain
after the surgery but I haven't had to take any of my tylenol 3's
yet at home. Quite a bit of drainage so I'm wearing a lovely
moustache bandage under my nose.
When I came out of the anesthesia, the doctor asked me what I was
dreaming about. I said "eating Thai food"...can't WAIT though I
think it will take a few days to find out if it worked.
I'm actually feeling pretty good - just a little weak and hungry. I hope my night is ok.
I likely won't be keeping up with any threads so thanks for all the nosema vibes and I'll be back soon.
I've finally gotten around to writing up my notes from seeing Jane Espenson speak last Friday at Ball State.
I'm not much of a writer, but since some folks asked me about it, I though it was best to write them all down and direct people towards it:
it's in my livejournal here
I'll be dark this weekend, as I'm going to a con and won't be back until
Monday afternoon.
minor good news :
HgA1c is a bloodtest that I take to see how my blood sugar ( glocose levels) Normal is between 5 and 6. If you are diabetic they want it under 7 and my doctor wants it under 6.6 about 6 months ago mine was 5.7 ( it was 7.x when first suspected) It is now 5.2 ya!
this means 2 things 1) even my bad days aren't that bad and 2) no more blood drawn for this - for another year!
actually, though minor , it feels like a major accomplishment.
Hopefully someone else has gone through this and has a hopeful outcome.
My dog Bailey had arthroscopic surgery on his right front leg last week and the vet showed me photos of what they found.
The cartilage around his elbow was like mush and he believes that the cartilage may be deteriorating thoughout his body. Given time, the cartilage will completely wear away.
He's only four years old now and I don't want to think about the fact that I may have to put him down in another year or so due to the amount of pain he'll eventually be in all the time. If any Buffista has heard of this or gone through it, happy for any tips to help improve his chances. Profile addy is good.
I'm in New Orleans from tomorrow through the 4th for work. If anyone wants to hang out, you can drop me a line at my profile addy.
If any of you have been on Effexor in the past please get in touch with me.
Profile addy is good.
Going dark, probably indefinitely. Anyone who needs me for anything (backup, support, writing stuff), my email works fine.
Okay folks, I need some good vibes on the work from here, I just put out a bid for a project that would bring in $10,000+ for the month of April. That woud be a really good thing since I'm self employed and this economy is a bitch to put it lightly.
Thanks!
