So... Senor is still not doing better. They gave him one insulin injection last night and his blood glucose went to normal and stayed there. So there's something else going on. He's extremely lethargic - he just won't move at all, his temperature is still low and he's not eating. One small bit of improvement is when people come to see him and touch him, he stretches. Which he wasn't doing last night.

Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
I talked to Senor's vet. His condition is deteriorating. He continues to show no interest in moving, and his temperature is lower (despite being in an incubator). His blood sugar level continues to be fine, which means something other than diabetes going on. The vet thinks it might be neuropathy. Maybe something brain-related.
We could send Senor to a specialist on Tuesday. There is also the possibility he'll need to be put down before then.
I saw Senor and the vet today. He had deteriorated more since Sunday - His breathing was getting labored and his eyes were doing weird things (indicating more problems with his brain). So it was pretty clear that the best thing would be to put him down. Which we did.
Senor Sock was a Devon Rex cat who was nearing his 11th birthday. He was a good kitty. Despite some early bladder and other mysterious problems, he recovered and lived a healthy life until falling ill last Friday. Typical of his breed, he was incredibly energetic his whole live (never losing his kittenish energy) and was the ultimate lap-cat. Despite the occasional spat over who got to sit on the computer chair or why did I need to get up when he was comfy on my lap, he was well-behaved and tolerant of wacky human shenanigans like the trimming of his nails.
All who met Senor admired his beauty, cuteness, playfulness and overall kittyish goodness. He will be greatly missed.
Hi all. I need your help please. My cousin was raped this weekend by someone she knew. She's not doing very well, she's encountering a lot of "blame the victim" type thinking. I guess the hospital she went to to have the rape kit done was horrible. My Mom asked me to send her the bible that got me through some bad times - "The Courage to Heal," but that is really specifically focused on survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I need some book recommendations for survivors of rape and acquaintance rape. I searched Amazon and found tons of books, but I don't want to just choose at random - I want to find her the book or books that will help her in the way that "The Courage to Heal" once helped me. So I've turned to the best read bunch I know - the Buffistas. Please, if you have any suggestions, email me at hneal at suscom-maine dot net. Thank you.

Tomorrow morning I have a second interview for a job I would really like to have. If you all could send some of the powerful patented job~ma toward the Chicagoland area around 7am board time, I would be most grateful!
Andi and I will probably be incommunicado at some point today, as we are switching phone and internet providers.
Tomorrow, tho..I hope.
Hey, DCistas! I'm posting in Beep Me, because the DCistas list is frelled. I've posted to our old DCLocalistas list in Yahoo, but I know that a lot of folks aren't subscribed there, so I wanted to make sure that everyone knew. Anyhoo, Suzi is going to be in town! Well, Centerville, but close enough!
Suzi will be in town this/next week and is looking to do our classic Buffista dinner. After the debacle at Zaytinya, I'd suggest we find another dinner locale. Right now, Suzi is booked Monday with work, I'm booked Wednesday and Thursday. So, thus far, we're looking at Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
I was thinking somewhere fun like Bistrot du Coin (http://www.bistrotducoin.com/)
Also, Suzi would love to do some small group/one on one stuff too, so email her if you're interested.
If you're interested in dinner, e me at my profile addy with which days are good for you.
If folks have any spare health~ma laying around, I'd like to request good thoughts beamed my mom's way. She's been feeling vaguely under the weather for some weeks now, and it's intensified to full-on exhaustion and a variety of other now-you-see-them-now-you-don't symptoms in the last week. Mom's doctors have ruled out most of the big scary stuff of a common nature, but we're still waiting on more tests to find out what's actually going on and hopefully suggest an avenue of treatment. Any wishes of good health would be greatly appreciated.
