Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

MIL is recovering swiftly after her surgery. Any spare -ma you can send would be a bonus. If there are no complications, I should be home and off slow dialup by Saturday night.

Let me just say that popularity with people on public transportation does not equal literary respect. --Jesse

Just wanted to let folks know that the BF is now the DF, as in Dear Fiance. We got engaged last week, over Rosh HaShana at my parents house. Did you know you're supposed to say congratulations to the groom and best wishes to the bride? Fascinating...

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Have gone dark. Am now Dark!Fay.

sigh.

Bloody laptop is dead. I, however, am not. Should I be ignoring emails or suchlike for the recent past and foreseeable future, however, that's why.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I just got an update 3 - 1/2 hours ago on the job that I've been jumping through hoops in an effort to be employed:

"...just an update for you - you did very well in the FedEx package questions and have been recommended as one of the candidates to be put forward for the Lakeville, MN area!!! Please don't resign from any position you may have just quite yet though! This is [recruiter]'s recommendation to [potential employer]! We hope that they will set up interviews soon for the position - as soon as I know more I will get back to you."

So, a "hang in there, but don't count your chickens..."

I'm still applying elsewhere in the meantime, but this would be a good gig. Vehicle, cell phone, credit card, travel...

Please continue job~ma, I'm plugging away.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

My mom just slipped on a rug in my hallway and went flat out, hard against the wood floor. Loud cracking noises and pain. She can move around, but we are headed to the emergency room to see if she cracked her skull or if there is any internal bleeding or a concussion.

Any spare -ma would be appreciated; I'm an only child, and she and dad are divorced. It looks to be a long night.

Cereal to add:

Thanks for all the -ma. Just got home from ER. Mom is doing well; looks like she's just going to be a bit banged up for a few days. Now if only tomorrow wasn't Back-to-School Night...

Thanks again, everyone.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Mrrph.

Well, I *was* going to wait until we'd told our Actual Local Families, but as doing so is taking this side of forever... (and this is why *I* thought we should just send out one mass email, but no, vetoed on that one...)

As some of you already know, if all goes well and as planned, we're having a baby in late April, right around the time Serenity comes out. I'm extra-spacy, extra-sleepy, and occasionally extra-cranky at the moment. Oh, yeah, and I'm off caffeine. And completely failing to glow.

I had my first ultrasound this week, which means I got to see the squirming, living blob-thing, which greatly reduces, but does not totally get rid of, my paranoia about the state, so any "Blob, stay put for the next 29/30 weeks"-ma is greatly appreciated.

Health-ma for Hubby, please. He's going in for an arthroscopic test of his spine tomorrow to see if what his doctor fears is actually happening, ie, a cascading failure of the discs in his spine from the site of the last surgery up. We're fairly sure this is what's happening, and the surgery is already pencilled in for Jan 5. His neurosurgeon is the head of the department and probably the best in the state, except for maybe Doc's brother. Doc's father is a legendary surgeon, retired, who drops in every now and then to make sure his boys are holding up the family honor. Hubby's in the best of hands--it's just that those best hands have a lot to deal with with Hubby.

Also, Hubby sprained his ankle tonight, but that should be fine by morning, if it follows the course of the previous sprains. However, it means tonight's sleep is a symphony of pain and discomfort, which he doesn't need before a major test.

Sanity-ma for me would be pleasant, too.
